This course was, without a doubt, the most valuable and challenging one I’ve taken this quarter. It gave me the opportunity to truly measure my fluency, improve my pronunciation, and practice thinking quickly in both English and Spanish. The tasks and videos were diverse and engaging, helping me strengthen my comprehension and adapt messages effectively in real-time. I appreciated how each project pushed me to research and prepare deeply, which made the learning process even more meaningful.
I genuinely hope the university continues to offer more courses like this. Simultaneous translation has proven to be one of the best ways to develop fluency and confidence in speaking.
My favorite project so far was the regular simultaneous, both in English and in Spanish. The Spanish one felt just right—I could translate fluently and confidently without pausing. The English one was a real challenge, but one I was determined to overcome. I practiced constantly, focusing on pacing, vocabulary, and intonation until I almost memorized it. When I finally did it, I felt incredibly proud of my progress.
Overall, this course has been my favorite of the quarter. Despite being demanding, it has taught me the most. Thanks to our professor’s guidance and support, I now feel much more prepared for future translation work, and I’m grateful for everything I’ve learned.
