1986

1986 saw a revised roof line for coupe models, which was unique to Oldsmobile until 1989, the removal of the 4.3 liter diesel and 3.0 liter V6 engines from the option list, revised grilles featuring rectangular openings, standard high mount stop lamps, The WJ5 Holiday Coupe package was dropped mid year (along with the boxy roof line) and he W48 ES Sedan was replaced by the W49 GT Sedan. Both are shown in the materials from the first have of the model year, however materials from March to the end of the year do not show the Holiday Coupe and replaced the ES sedan with the new GT sedan.

Among the many important changes was the introduction of Oldsmobile's popular FE3 "Level III Touring Car Ride and Handling Package" on all Cutlass Ciera models (excluding Cruiser) and standard on GT models.

Other changes included the introduction of Chevrolet's 2.8 liter fuel injected V6(112 hp and 145 lbs/tq) as optional across the board.

A revised 3.8 liter V6 now had 150 hp and 200 lbs/tq.
