1984

The 1984 Cutlass Ciera saw several changes while awaiting it's first major update, which would arrive with the 1985 model year. New this year was the special edition WJ5 Holiday coupe package, available only on Brougham coupes with tinted glass. There was a new Cutlass Cruiser wagon, that replaced the former rear wheel drive model offered the previous year. It featured an option third seat, single piece tailgate, and could be had with any powertrain.

Oldsmobile and Buick added the 3.8 liter Buick V6 to their line up this year, which brought with it the 4 speed automatic transmission for the first time. Standard wheels were now 14 inches (dropping the previous 13 inch standard size), and minor trim changes were made to tail lamps and other appearance items. Minor changes bumped base engine horsepower to 92.

The ES continued as the sport option for Ciera models this year.
