What is a Self-Evaluation Report?

Self-Evaluation Report is, together with indicators of creative activities, peer review, bibliometric analysis and site visit, one of the evaluation tools used to assess the quality of scientific, research, development, innovative, artistic or other creative activities at Charles University. It is produced by every unit subjected to the evaluation. Before it is uploaded into the IS Veda system and thus provided to the Expert Panels and Research Evaluation Board it must be discussed by the internal Research Board of the relevant unit.

  • The national and international standing of the research areas developed in particular in comparison to the benchmark institutions;

  • Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks in the area of research; and

  • Plan for the further development of research activities.

What is the use of a Self-Evaluation Report?

Expert Panels that are responsible for evaluating individual fields and research areas are supposed to use Self-Evaluation Reports as a background information about research at individual units. Research Evaluation Board is responsible for critical assessment of individual units where quality of a unit is derived in particular from the assessment of the quality of individual fields taking into account the indicators of research activities and the report, both of which provide information on the concept, strategy, and organisation of research activities, their relevance for the society, viability, and based on how the given unit contributes through its research to the fulfilment of priorities of the University set in the valid strategic plan.
