Internal classification

General scheme of internal classification

Basic rules

The form and content of internal classification have been determined in discussions across the University.

All authors, grants, projects (etc.) and outputs must be assigned to (academic) fields.

  • Authors should be assigned to min. 1 and max. 3 fields on every unit where they work or study.

  • Grants, projects should be assigned to min. 1 field.

  • Outputs should be assigned to 1 field for the purpose of research evaluation.

Relations to other systems

  • Internal classification includes relations to other categorizations by field:

    • most of the (academic) fields are related to at least one category used in the Web of Science database,

    • every (academic) field (or its subfield) is related to at least one degree programme offered at the University,

    • every (academic) field (or its subfield) is related to one and only field in the code list of national Information system of research and development IS VaVaI.

  • Full details of the relations of the individual fields are available in the Classification section of the IS Veda system – see the relevant manual.
