The R&D Information System is a national information system of the public administration for a collection, processing, publication and utilization of an information about the research and development, which has been supported by public budgets. It is a system operated by the Government of the Czech Republic, beeing abbreviated in Czech as IS VaVaI, not to be confused with IS Veda (system operated by Charles University).

The system consists in particular of register of outputs (Rejstřík informací o výsledcích = RIV) and register of projects (Centrální evidence projektů = CEP). Once in a year Charles University is required to provide information about its outputs to the RIV.

The system is using its own code list for field classification evolved from the classification used by the Frascati Manual – please see Internal Classification for explanation on relations between academic fields of CU's internal classification and fields in the code list of IS VaVaI.

IS VaVaI is not a data source for current evaluation cycle at Charles University.
