What is a bibliometric support?

Bibliometric support is, together with research indicators, self-evaluation report of a unit, peer review and site visit, one of the evaluation tools.

The bibliometric support is provided in a form of an analytical document which consists of

  • “structural reports” on fields (and also units) where quantitative information on personnel structure and outputs etc.

  • “comparative reports” (internal, national and international - with preselected benchmark institutions)

What is the purpose of the bibliometric support?

The document is primarily intended to be used in conjunction with self-evaluation reports and peer reviews by

  • the Expert panels to effectively assess the quality of research within the individual fields and research areas,

  • the Research Evaluation Board to use it while assessing the quality of research within the units and

  • the management of CUNI and CUNI units.

How is the bibliometric analysis conducted?

Based on the Research Evaluation Board's decision the bibliometric analysis is applied in all evaluated research areas.

The Rectorate is in charge of the methodology and completion of the bibliometric analysis, which is prepared on the grounds of:

  • Data obtained from the information system of Charles University;

  • Data contained in the Web of Science and Journal Citation Reports databases.

For the full explanation of the methods and processes used, please see the respective chapters and appendices of the document.

Who can access the bibliometric analysis report and how?

During the course of the evaluation the bibliometric analysis report is restricted to the Expert Panels members, Research Evaluation Board members and CU Unit coordinators, who can access it via the IS Veda system. To do that, please see the respective manual.
