⚠️SPOILERS AHEAD!!⚠️
By Sophia Doshi
'Tis the season for another quiet, rage-filled, and brooding protagonist who has an interesting career trajectory. Don't get me wrong though, it's just my kind of show.
Meet Geralt (of Rivia). At a very young age, his mother gave him away to a fortress tucked away in a snowy mountain range called Kaer Morhen. In this fortress, he was trained to become part of the league of best monster-hunters on the Continent, called Witchers. Yet Geralt is unique—he's one of the strongest Witchers to ever exist.
Throughout the first season, follow a range of different characters, yet most importantly is Geralt. The show follows him as he kills monsters, makes 'coin'—what we gen z'ers call 'bank'—and journeys to discover his destiny. Plot twists and thrilling action sequences are hidden around every corner, making for a fast-paced, magic-filled TV show.
Meet Geralt.
He is not the happiest of fellas. He lives a pretty sobering life; he hunts monsters, has a horse, and is shunned by most of society because of the indications towards his Witcher lifestyle: his luscious, greasy, dirty white locks and his golden eyes. You'd think that this hunk of man (played by Henry Cavill) would have the women falling all over him, right? Let's let Reddit answer this for us. (If you read this and you know me, no, you don't) According to 'fkjlafjlfj', "...I understand perfectly why women desire Geralt. Why wouldn't they? The body of a greek god covered with scars of mysteries that are filled with years of experience and pleasure. Long hair don't care mojo that is white which makes him stand out even more and not to mention his cat-like eyes with chiseled features to boot. A rough, deep, husky voice in combination with a personality of a brooding pseudo-philosopher..."
If that's not enough, here's 'WhiteWolfWhispers' (quite the handle, if I do say so myself): "Beside the obvious fact that's he's sexy as hell, I think that he's quite the celebrity. Word has spread about him, both his actions, and his prowess, thanks to Dandelion's ballads. In the books, I believe it's explained that sorceresses are thrilled with him because he "vibrates" magic or he makes them feel vibrations in the magical sense. What woman can resist that? ;) He's a loner, and drifter, and some women are attracted to that too, the no strings attached sort of mentality. Other women I think are just attracted to his strong sense of power & presence, how he carries himself. And finally, it could just be that whole "bad boy image" thing that witchers have. They're often thought of as mutants, freaks, and outcasts. To some, that's very attractive."
I think I made my point that he's hot. Like, really hot.
Basically, between the action, the romance, and Henry Cavill's questionable acting skills, this show is right up my alley. If you like action, fantasy, and a book-to-video-game-to-TV-show adaptation, then you'll love the Witcher.
Since Ciri had a princess's upbringing, so she's a little naïve yet brave and determined. She's also the adoptive daughter of Geralt and he would go to the ends of the earth for her.
Our pragmatic, crude, and cynical bad boy who kills all the baddies (and pulls all the baddies).
Definitely fruity. The Witcher fandom believes him to have feelings for Geralt. He's also a great performer, so he's basically Geralt's gay bestie.
The most powerful sorceress of her time, a total badass (my favorite character), and Geralt's primary love interest.
A little birdie told me to say that Witcher fans are angry that season 2 ended on a cliffhanger. I agree with this birdie that we need season 2 ASAP... But I have no power. Ain't nothing I can do.
But collectively...
I'm just kidding. All we can do is wait. (that sounds like it could be a Beatles song)
