If you were a fan of Rick Riordan's books and you love Buzzfeed Unsolved with Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej, then you'll love Ghosts of Gotham by Craig Schaeffer. I know that liking Percy Jackson or The Kane Chronicles and Buzzfeed Unsolved isn't exactly the most common of passions, but they are mine. I think that those two interests are what really made the book all the more interesting for me. It started out tame, with a run-of-the-mill storyline ironically featuring a journalist with a secret that he had been keeping since his childhood, and a possible love interest is introduced not soon after in the book. Then, it started getting interesting. The book evolved from a novel that I thought was going to plainly be about the secrets of this journalist (and a couple of stolen kisses in between because of the love interest), into something with mythology, magic, and drama that I never expected to be featured.
