what is the defence?
The defence is the final part of your PhD journey! It's when you come together with your supervisor and committee members and they ask you final questions about your work. You typically have 20 minutes to present your work and then you are asked a series of questions. After you answer, you are asked to leave for a period of time while the committee discusses. Then you are brought back into the room. They then tell you passed without revisions or passed with revisions. If you are asked for revisions you usually have to submit then within a window of time and then you will be prompted to upload your PhD onto an online database.
