If you are a fully-funded doctoral student, the university will determine what kind of package you will receive based on whether you have a major scholarship or which time of employment opportunity you have been hired to (if you are assigned to work a GA, GA/RF, TA etc.). That being said, as the years go on, you will have opportunities to try out different types of jobs.  Most incoming students will have a GA package.
