getting an GA/RF position
what is a graduate assistant/research fellowship position?
As part of your Graduate Student Funding, you may be offered a package that combines a Graduate Assistantship and a Research Fellowship.
Similar to Graduate Assistantships, Research Fellowships allow students to participate in a variety of research projects. They’re meant to help you develop your academic and professional skills and specifically provide you with the opportunity to publish with your fellowship supervisor (e.g., co-author a research report, scholarly paper, or conference presentation).
Another advantage of getting a Research Fellowship is that this portion of your funding will not be taxed. As with the OISE Fellowship, the amount of your Research Fellowship will be reported in a T4A form.
how do you apply for an RF/GA position?
You won’t be alerted to the possibility of submitting an application for a Research Fellowship. In fact, there may be no formal application process and you may simply be approached by faculty members and invited to participate in their research project.
