getting a research & development graduate assistant job
what is a research & development graduate assistant (R&D GA) job?
Similar to Graduate Assistantships, Research & Development Graduate Assistantships are positions that allow students to participate in a variety of research projects. They’re meant to help you develop your academic and professional skills.
The main difference between Graduate Assistantships and Research & Development Graduate Assistantship is in the eligibility requirements.
If you’re a full-time student, you can hold a R&D GA during the first six years of your study. If you are a flex-time student, you can hold a R&D GA once during the first five years of your study but must be pursuing your study on a full-time basis.
If you’re a full-time student and successfully get a R&D GA position in the Fall/Winter sessions while you are funded, it’ll become a component in the Graduate Funding Package that you’ll be receiving for the academic year.
how to you apply for a RD GA?
Unlike with Graduate Assistantships, you may not be alerted to the possibility of submitting an application for a Research & Development Graduate Assistantship.
To make sure you don’t miss any opportunities, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the current schedule for the application process. You can find the tentative application timelines for positions to be held in the Fall/Winter and Summer sessions here, under Graduate Assistantship:
