The Intramuros located in the capital city of the Philippines, Manila is a historical spot being 500 years old. The main purpose of the Intramuros was to be the main base of Spanish military and politics. The Intramuros also served as a city that only the rich and powerful (mostly from Spanish descent) could settle in. Establishments also thrived within Intramuros, most being religious and educational institutions such as churches and museums.
San Agustin Church
The San Agustin Church located inside Intramuros is one of the many churches that were built by the Spanish. What's so special about the San Agustin Church is that the San Agustin Church is the oldest stone church inside the Philippines.
Fort Santiago
The Fort Santiago located inside the Intramuros was the former headquarters of the several invading armies that entered the Philippines. From the Spanish, to the British, to the Americans then lastly the Japanese. In 1574, Fort Santiago was destroyed after an almost successful siege of Manila from the Chinese pirate, Lin Feng.
