Intramuros is known to be one of the oldest district/neighborhoods in Manila as it served as the seat of the Philippine government back in 1571 to 1898 where the walls of Intramuros protected the wall city from attacks from invaders during it’s time.
Despite being called the “Wall City”, Intramuros has a residential area in it where only the rich can go and the rest of Manila’s residence live outside which is called as Extramuros of Manila meaning “outside the city” where the poor and middle-class residents live.
Manila Cathedral, one of the churches that can be seen inside the walls of Intramuros is known to be the Prime Basilica of the Philippines where the highest seat of the archbishop of the country goes.
You can also visit the Manila bulletin main publishing office in Intramuros which was founded back in the year 1900 where you can see and observe how the newspapers we buy and read are printed and shared to fellow Filipinos.
If you think Intramuros is just filled with historic tourist destinations, you're wrong as in the “Wall City”, there is a golf course where you can enter and play golf while being in one of the most historic places in the Philippines.
