2 Phase Encounter

I have multiple strategies for heroic listed. If your group is having serious problems handling Omega Vector, or just keeping up with the overall healing requirement, I highly recommend using one of the alternate strategies. The three group spread strategy for handling Omega Vector will most likely be what the majority of groups find easiest.

Phase 1 - Revolves around debuff management.

  • Evolving Affliction
      • Tank debuff, one application every 10 seconds
      • Deals small amount of damage, but stacks infinitely
      • 12s debuff
      • Current tuning is roughly 20k initially, 40k, 60k, 80k, etc
          • 26k, 53k, 79k etc on mythic
  • Omega Vector
      • 10s DoT on random players
      • Applied to 3 random players at the beginning of the fight
      • Upon expiring, jumps to the closest ally
      • Leaves behind a debuff called Lingering Infection
  • Lingering Infection
      • Increases nature damage you take by 5% per stacks. ALL damage of this boss is nature damage.
  • Contagion
      • Large AoE damage ability on the entire raid. Current tuning is 31k damage per person, modified by lingering infection.
  • Gestate
      • Boss casts at a random player. At the end of the cast, the target is stunned and gets a 5s DoT. Also deals AoE damage to anyone within 5 yards once the player becomes stunned
      • The AoE damage can just be healed through
      • After 5s, an add spawns
          • Casts Immunosuppression, large healing absorb on the raid.
          • Healers need to just heal through these absorbs.
          • DPS must kill asap
  • Phase 1 Strat
      • Entire raid stacks just off center behind the boss, with a raid marker 7 yards to the right and another marker 3 yards to the left.
      • Tanks run into the middle group when they need to drop their buff
      • If someone gets >5 stacks of Lingering Infection, they move to the left marker so they can no longer get hit by the Omega vector.
      • Highly recommend practicing stack management on Heroic in preparation for Mythic. The more strict you are managing in Heroic, which should be fairly simple for Mythic guilds, the better Mythic progression will go.

Phase 1 Alternate Strat - USE ME IF YOU'RE HAVING ISSUES HANDLING OMEGA VECTOR DAMAGE

      • Instead of grouping in one large clump, break the dps and healers into 3 separate groups with set stack points
          • People in each of the 3 groups need to be stacked VERY tightly
      • At the beginning of the fight, when the 3 Omega Vectors spawn, RL coordinate that one vector is brought to each assigned group
      • Simply pass the Vector around in each of the 3 groups
      • Benefits
          • Ensures nobody will ever get more than 1 occurrence of Omega Vector at a time
          • Makes it easier on the healers
          • Spreads Lingering Infection stacks more evenly

  • Phase 1 Extra Tank Cheese Strat
      • This fight is technically solo tankable, if your main tank is geared enough and healers coordinate to keep them alive.
      • Tank would max out at 10 stacks of Evolving Affliction, dealing about 180k before any mitigations for that last 12 seconds
      • With good healer coordination and solid tank CD rotation, this is doable, allowing a completely different strategy for Omega Vector, involving bringing 3 tanks total
      • Omega Vector Strat
          • While the one primary tank holds the boss, the other 2 tanks will handle Omega Vector the entire fight. Initially, 3 random people get Omega Vector for 10s. After 10s, it jumps to the closest player. With proper positioning, all 3 of the initial vectors can be dropped off to the 2 offtanks
          • Once the 2 offtanks have combined all 3 of the Omega Vectors, they just stand on each other the rest of the fight, trading their individual debuffs back and forth. You’ll always have one tank with 2 stacks, the other with 1 stack.
          • This trivializes the Omega Vector mechanic, and makes Lingering Infection a non-issue for the raid. Healers focus on keeping these tanks alive. The damage they take ramps up over time, and can be 60k+ per 2s late in the fight, but nearly all the damage going out will be consolidated between the offtanks soaking Omega Vector, and the MT with their Evolving Affliction debuff.
      • This strat is ONLY VIABLE for normal and heroic. Mythic mechanics make it unworkable
      • Your primary tank must be very well geared, with very high health for this to be workable

Phase 2 - Dodge the shits

  • On a timer, the boss will become a puddle of goop, and the goop will quickly move to a random spot in the room
      • If you touch the puddle, you gain a stack of Lingering Infection and take damage
      • Once the puddle stops moving, it will throw Blood Geysers from the puddle.
          • If you’re hit, you take damage and +1 stack of Lingering Infection
          • Geysers always are directed at players, and WILL still add +1 Lingering Infection even if you use an immunity
      • Omega Vector continues jumping around during this phase
      • Plague Bomb
          • Fallen Avatar style soak circles. Once person must soak each circle, damage does NOT split.
          • If not soaked, an add spawns, same add that Gestate spawns
          • Becomes pretty damn big issue, so just soak the bombs
      • Boss will always push immediately after spawning a Gestate add, so you need to deal with an add during this phase regularly.
      • Boss will cast 2 sets of Plague Bombs total, then begin p1 again.
      • Rinse and repeat
      • Whole phase lasts 35s

Strategy For Second, third, etc Phase 1

  • We want the lingering gaze stacks to stay relatively even throughout the raid. As such, each time we go into p1, increase the move-out threshold by 5. First time, threshold is 5, second time is 10, third is 15 etc. Looking at current tuning, to get one shot on Heroic will require failures of epic proportions, so that’s not really a concern. Moreso, the concern is keeping people relatively even to make life easier for the healers.
  • HIGHLY recommend that you readjust and tank boss wherever he pops up at the end of a p2. If this happens to be where you started, perfect. If it's on the opposite side of the room, simply adjust to it to prevent downtime.

Mythic Changes

  • 4 Omega Vectors instead of 3
  • Tight healing check
      • Recommend 2 tank, 5 heal, 13 dps comp
  • Contagion now has additional effects based on your number of Lingering Infection stacks
      • 6 stacks - Bursting Lesions
          • Deals an additional 24k damage and applies another stack of Lingering Infection within 5 yards
      • 12 Stacks - Spawn Parasite
          • Spawns a parasite add that must be focused and killed ASAP. Basic ability deals 33k to a random player.
          • If they reach full energy, 57k damage to the whole raid + 1 stack
      • 25 stacks - Terminal Eruption
          • 66k to ALL players, plus 9.9 mil to player with the 25 stacks. Wipe mechanic.

Mythic Strategy

  • We need to very closely control stacks. To properly manage the spread of Omega Vectors, you'll need to split the raid into 4 groups. At the beginning of the fight, the first 4 targets of Omega Vector need to stand in different groups and make sure each of the 4 groups has 1 vector jumping around
      • This is most likely a required strat, as anyone getting 2 Omega Vectors in the later parts of the fight is basically guaranteed to die
  • When players get a 6th stack, they need to spread 5 yards from the stack points before a contagion cast
  • When a player gets to 12 stacks, all DPS must be ready to immediately swap to the parasites.
      • You do NOT want to let this happen, so if a player gets 11 stacks they need to leave their group to avoid getting Omega Vector
  • If anyone gets to 23-24 stacks, just kill yourself. Stop healing them and let them die. This absolutely should NEVER HAPPEN
  • You will need to create a healer CD rotation for Contagian casts. Healers should prioritize direct healing on Omega Vector targets, and allow the CDs to carry most of the raid healing. Don't pad healing meters, focus on keeping Omega Vector targets alive.
      • CD rotation timing, time given from start of encounter - 0:20, 0:45, 1:10, 1:36, 2:30, 2:55, 3:20, 3:46, 4:40, 5:05, 5:30, 5:56, 6:50, 7:15, 7:40
      • There is little to no lethal damage outside Contagian and Omega Vector
  • A two stack of Omega Vector is almost always a wipe. It's possible for the 2 stack to have staggered durations, in which case with some quick movement you can separate them. If a person with a 2 stack of Omega Vector dies, it's a wipe.
      • Durations both get reset, and x2 Vectors will just melt someone
  • The add spawned by Gestate needs to be picked up by tanks asap, and nuked by ALL dps
  • In P2, assign quarters of the room to each group of 5 players. If you are the player with Omega Vector in your group, make sure the closest person to you is in your own group so the debuff remains in the proper setup
  • Plague Bombs cannot be missed, and the lines the boss shoots must be dodged
  • P2 self-awareness becomes even more important, because any stacks gained in p2 comes back to haunt us in p1
