Exhibit 6: Restoration
Exhibit 6: Restoration
Original - First Design
Second Design - Revision
Background
Our sixth exhibit consisted of retouching images and applying the skills we've learned throughout the semester. I wanted to apply the skills I have learned to restore an old image I have of my mom from when she was fifteen years old.
Photoshop
I went into Photoshop
I used the patch tool to fix all the blemishes there are in the picture.
I used the spot-healing brush to clear out the lines and bumps in the image.
I then used the content-aware tool to move parts of the image around to make it look good. The shadowing under her chin was one area I used the content-aware tool to make it look more real.
I used the liquify tool a lot around the image to move lines around and make them more defined. I also used it to fix her hair and to stretch out the background.
I used the marquee tool and copied a bit of the image to the missing area and then used the blur, patch, and healing brush to make the missing area look as natural as it could be.
I used the blur and healing brush to soften the image all around.
Design
The design I was going for is to restore the image. My mom has a few images from her youth, so I want to make sure we can conserve them as much as we can. I wanted to give her this back so she could see it as if it was new. I also
I used contrast when fixing the shadowing to make it look natural.
Repetition was used a lot by spot healing and using content-aware.
I used alignment by fixing the space around to make my mom the center of the image.
Proximity was used by having my mom be the focal point.
The color scheme used here was to have colors that fit together well. The pink, brown, and beige color really ties the image together.
