Background
Our second assignment was to create something of our choice that is meaningful or relevant to us. I used one of the images from a bridal photoshoot I did for my friend Olivia. I wanted to reinvent it using new techniques that I learned from our lessons so far.
Photoshop
I went into photoshop
Converted the image from 16 bits to 8 bits.
I then went into the history tool and duplicated the state of the picture.
I clicked the crop tool and selected content-aware.
I expanded the image to add more background. I did this by selecting the marquee tool and cropping the small areas on both the left and right sides.
I then went into the edit tab and clicked on the content-aware scale and stretched those areas out into the white.
Furthermore, I wanted to add a painted background and have Olivia be the main focus. I did this by using large brush strokes.
156 px, normal mode
The opacity at 80%
The style: dab
The tolerance at 2%.
Design
The design was inspired because when I first took the pictures, Olivia had asked me if I could add more of the background to make the picture bigger, but I told her I had issues doing that because I didn't know how to do it as clean and nice. She understood and kept it how it was. I now want to practice this image so I can apply these skills from now on to new clients when they ask if I can expand the background. The design was inspired by wanting more open space and the brush strokes were inspired by A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat. I really like that painting which gave me the inspiration to make the background a painting.
