Background
For our fifth exhibit, we were tasked to add adjustment layers plus all the other material we have learned so far. I run a photography business named Sublime Epiphany, so I was going for a poster-type of look at the entrance of my studio. This image was taken by me last year for my friends Marvin and Maria who wanted me to do their engagement pictures. I fell in love with this shoot and it inspired me to add weddings to my shoots and portfolio. I want to use this image as one of the frontrunners in my wedding portfolio.
Photoshop
I went into Photoshop
I added and expanded the image to the right. I then clicked content aware and used the marquee tool to select what I wanted to expand.
I created a layer for levels and curves.
I played around with the levels and curves until I obtained the results I liked.
I then used the text tool to add the text. I changed the color and placed it on the cloud.
The prior edit was from when I edited it first awhile ago.
Design
The design I was going for was for a studio poster type of vibe. A poster you would see when going into a photography studio that showcases their work. I want to improve my skills and expand my photography business by opening a studio sometime in the near future.
I used contrast in several ways. I wanted the couple to stand out and be distinguished from everything. The first edit was more of a red vibe, but I wanted to make this second edit cooler and wintery.
I used repetition when expanding the image. I needed that area to repeat by expanding it.
I aligned the elements in my design by the rule of thirds. I wanted the couple to be the main focal point while the text is the second focal point tying the image together.
I used proximity by having the couple be zoomed in more than anything else. This gives them the focus.
The font choice I made was inspired by a wedding invitation type of vibe. I wanted to give this image that looks of being an invitation, but it just showcases my work.
The color scheme I went for here was analogous. I used blues, purples, and slight pinks to make the image have that cool look to it.
