Toward a Practice-Based Evaluative Mindset Rooted in Culture and Equity: The I.M.P.A.C.T Framework

Evaluators regularly encounter moving parts in their work with communities Among these are the end-goals of interventions and their evaluation, usually based on visions or missions not formulated by the evaluator nor the communities for whom such interventions are planned. In that context, the evaluator embarks on finding the best-fit methodologies from their methodological toolbox to conduct evaluations. During this think tank, participants will have the opportunity to react to the facilitators’ I.M.P.A.C.T framework. I.M.P.A.C.T is designed to: 1) foster a community-first approach to goal setting in evaluation; 2) complement data-driven, measurement-oriented methodologies used in assessments; and 3) heighten the value of practice-based, culturally-responsive, and experiential learning to a comparable level of worth and merit given to social research. Participants will take away peer-derived ideas on the possibility of attaining a practice-based evaluative mindset rooted in the concepts of culture, response, equity, and evaluation.
