Collaborative, Participatory, and Empowerment Evaluation:

Raising Consciousness and Taking Steps Toward Enlightenment

Session Abstract

We invite our colleagues to share stories about how they have used stakeholder involvement approaches to raise consciousness. They may include community members, donors, program staff members, or themselves as evaluators. We will highlight a few examples to “prime the pump” and get the conversation started.

These real-world examples will be drawn from our book Collaborative, Participatory, and Empowerment Evaluation: Stakeholder Involvement Approaches. In addition, we will invite colleagues to tell their stories about steps they have taken to cultivate self-determination, capacity building, and even baby steps toward enlightenment. Examples may be drawn from program practice, policy, personal growth and development. Personal epiphanies and insights are welcome. This session should prove to be a thoughtful, possibly transformative, but minimally engaging time for reflection, as we begin to emerge from a shared, worldwide phenomenon.

Session Submitters: David Fetterman, Liliana Rodriguez-Campos, and Ann Zukoski

This session is available on the formal program because it is also our CPE TIG Business Meeting and all are welcome.

Time: TIG Facilitated Session: November 9, 2021 (5:30-6:30 PM Eastern)
