All Demon Hunters were once students under the tutelage of Illidan Stormrage, The Betrayer. After his defeat at the Black Temple, many of his students abandoned his ways. Now, they have begun to rejoin the Horde and the Alliance and add their power to the ranks of Azeroth's armies. Masters of glaive combat, anti-magic, and Fel power, Demon Hunters are not to be trifled with.
The Demon Hunter is an Alliance only class until The Burning Crusade when Blood Elves will gain access to it.
Master the art of Warglaive combat to strike down your enemies in a flurry of steel.
Bolster your physical form and enhance your abilities with the power of slain demons.
Harness the destructive powers of Fel Magic to annihilate enemies or empower your glaives.
All weapons equipped by a Demon Hunter are transformed into warglaives. Demon Hunters also have a Rage bar, which fills naturally when dealing and taking damage, and is also generated by some abilities. When the Demon Hunter's Rage bar is filled, they will transform into their Demon Form for a short time. While in Demon Form the player will experience a significant boost to their ability in combat.
Many of the Demon Hunter's abilities strike multiple enemies, which makes them effective melee cleavers. Demon Hunters also have access to some rudimentary spellcasting through the Fel Magic school which lets them command some destructive forces.
Felstrikes
The Demon Hunter has a special mechanic called Felstrike. Felstrikes are triggered by many Demon Hunter abilities, usually as a random chance. At a base level, a Felstrike simply deals additional Felfire damage to the target, but there are many buffs and effects available to the Demon Hunter that either improve the effectiveness or add additional effects/procs to their Felstrikes, such as a chance to stun the target, or a flat boost to the damage dealt, a chance to strike an additional time, etc.
