What should I say when I'm not sure if I've just used the right word?
You should say: "I'm not sure if that's the right word."
"I'm not sure if I used the right word."
What should I ask when I'm not sure if I've used the right word?
You should ask: "Was the that the right word ?"
"Did I use the right word?"
"Do you understand what I mean?"
"Do you understand what I'm trying to say?"
What should I say when I realise that I've made a mistake?
You could say: "Oops!" or "Sorry".
What should I ask when I want to ask for a correction?
You should ask: "What should I have said?"
"What would have been a better way to say that?"
"How else could I have said that?"
"What should I have said ?"
"Here you go."
"Thank very much you."
"Eh?"
"What was that ?"
"Thank very much you."
"Ooh,-that’s not right!"
"We don't say it like that!"
"What should I have said?"
"You should have said ‘Thankyou very much.’"
"Oh?"
"Thanks for correcting me."
"That’s OK."
"Can you correct me if my English is wrong?"
(if I make any mistakes)
"Yeah, sure."
"It’s hard to know if my English sounds natural
to native speakers."
"I’ll let you know if you make any mistakes."
"I don’t mind you correcting me."
