Season 1, Episode 5:

"Cultural Proficiency with Delores and Randall Lindsey"

In this episode, Drs. Randy and Dolores Lindsey explain what it means to be culturally proficient. The Lindseys have developed a framework for cultural proficiency that has been used by educators and school leaders for decades. We hope this episode helps listeners gain a personal understanding of what cultural proficiency means in practice, so that all of our students have access to an equitable education.

Dolores B. Lindsey, Ph.D. retired as Associate Professor of Education at California State University San Marcos, but did not retire from the education profession. As a former teacher, site administrator and county office administrator, Delores is well-known nationally and specifically in the north county area as coauthor of numerous books on Cultural Proficiency. She facilitates groups to examine their organizations' policies and practices, and their individual beliefs and values about cross-cultural communication.

Randall B. Lindsey, Ph.D., coauthor of numerous books on Cultural Proficiency, is Emeritus Professor at California State university, Los Angeles. He has served as a teacher, an administrator, executive director of a non-profit corporation, and served as administrator at Redlands University and California Lutheran University. Currently, he facilitates groups on issues related to diversity and equity using the lens of Cultural Proficiency for leadership, problem solving, long-range planning and conflict resolution.
