Project Based Learning
Alisa McArthur and Tyler Tant, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Rangers at Lake Allatoona, are interactive partners involved with projects in 1st and 2nd grades. They are also providing a field trip opportunity for teachers experience projects rangers are working on at the lake.
Robert Patrick, proprietor of McKaskey Hills Blueberry Farm, is an interactive partner who works with 1st grade on their project of meeting the needs of plants and animals around CLES.
Andrea Hines, Georgia Tech Manufacturing Partnership, is an interactive partner helping to support 5th grade with their PBL on making healthy lifestyle choices from a food and beverage industry perspective.
Anna Clark, BCSS School Nutrition Specialist, is an interactive partner supporting 5th grade students with their PBL.
Cass High School AP Environmental Research students partner with third grade, sharing their own Environmental Footprint projects.
Sidney Forsyth, City of Cartersville Water Department, is an interactive partner who speaks to 4th grade students as they are learning about the water cycle.
Brenda Moss has been a valuable Advocate Partner to our STEM Advisory Council. She has provided feedback, ideas, and resources for every grade level PBL. We are grateful to her and NWGA RESA for their ongoing support.
Katie Martin, Gracie Jordan, Allison Perkins, Angelica Bridges, and Paul Pugliese of the UGA Extension Office have been involved with every grade level contributing to our PBL planning as advocate partners. The team has also provided professional learning for staff, presentations for students, plants and other resources, and connections to other partners.
Competitions
Tennessee Valley Robotics is a great support partner. They provided our team with a robot and fund competitions each year.
Cloverleaf Elementary was the interactive partner who hosted the 2024-2025 LEGO Robotics Competition. We provided space, volunteers, and judges.
Georgia Highlands College has been an ongoing advocate partner supporting competitions in a number of ways. They host the annual LEGO Robotics Kickoff Event and provide guest speakers. They host the annual Bartow Robotics Showcase, provide volunteers, judges, and mentors. They also host and support the Technology Competition by providing space and judges.
Donations
48forty Solutions is a support partner. We appreciate their donation of pallets to 4th grade for their compost bin.
Building a STEM Culture
Taylor Van Pelt, CLES parent and representative of the Cartersville Chamber of Commerce, is an interactive partner working as a member of our STEM Advisory Council to provide feedback, ideas, and connect us with other members of the community.
Robin Morrow is an incredible advocate partner, providing multiple professional learning opportunities for our staff, hosting field trips at the BCCA Innovation Academy, working with teams on PBLs, supporting our STEM leadership team, and working with us on our STEM Advisory Council.
Dr. Bob Young of Georgia Youth Science and Technology Centers, GYSTC, is an advocate partner who has provided professional learning to staff, lessons with students, activities for family STEM nights, and support and feedback as a valuable member of our STEM Advisory Council.
Kim Young of our local Teacher Resource Center is an advocate partner who has provided materials, student lessons, teacher trainings, and support of our staff and STEM Advisory Council for several years.
