Participation in International Competition
"Global Climate Literacy Competitions"
Students of 6th Grade in Primary School of Agnantero Greece had a fantastic learning experience! They participated in the Global Climate Literacy Competition 1 and had the opportunity to learn about climate change and how to take effective action through bite-sized games and friendly competitions.
Educational Visit to the Recycling Sorting Center
The students of our school took part in an educational visit to the Recyclable Materials Sorting Center in Artesiano.
During the visit, the students had the opportunity to observe firsthand the process of sorting and recycling materials, learn about the importance of recycling, and become aware of the role they can play in protecting the environment.
This activity is part of our school’s environmental education program, aiming to develop ecological awareness and a responsible attitude toward waste management.
The students returned enthusiastic, full of knowledge and inspiration to apply good recycling practices in their everyday lives!
The students of the 6th grade of our school presented a short theatrical performance focusing on recycling and the role of the family in caring for the environment. Through humorous dialogues and creative scenes, the young actors highlighted the importance of proper waste management, the reuse of materials, and the cooperation of all family members in order to achieve a greener planet.
Their classmates watched the performance with great interest, and it was followed by a discussion on everyday habits that can make a difference. This activity is part of our school’s broader educational program for environmental awareness.
Recycling at Our School:
We collect, protect, and care! 🌍♻️
Our environmental team continues its actions with great enthusiasm! 🔄 At our school, we have placed special recycling bins where you can collect and dispose of:
âś… Light bulbs
âś… Toner cartridges and ink
âś… Electrical and electronic devices
âś… Batteries
📌 Our goal is to reduce waste and contribute to a cleaner environment! Everyone’s participation is invaluable, as small everyday actions can make a big difference.
🔹 Bring your recyclable materials to the designated bins at our school!
🔹 Inform friends and family about our initiative!
🔹 Let’s show our love for the environment through action!
đź’š Together, we can achieve more!
Our school, within the framework of the program successfully implemented the educational project “Robo-Heroes of Recycling”, combining robotics with environmental education.
The aim of the program was to raise students’ awareness of the importance of recycling and environmental protection, while at the same time introducing them to the world of programming and educational robotics. Through experiential activities, students developed STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and worked collaboratively to build and program robots that carried out waste management missions and the sorting of recyclable materials.
During the program, students:
✔️ Discovered the importance of recycling and its impact on the environment.
✔️ Learned about Talos, the first “automaton” of antiquity, and discussed how technology has evolved since then.
✔️ Built and programmed robots using the LEGO WeDo 2.0 robotics kit.
✔️ Collaborated in teams, fostering critical thinking and creativity.
✔️ Participated in STEM challenges and games that strengthened problem-solving skills.
The program concluded with the presentation of the students’ creations, during which they showcased their robots and discussed their experiences and conclusions. The enthusiastic response of the children confirmed the value of an interdisciplinary approach in education and the power of technology as a tool for learning and developing ecological awareness.
“Recycling is My Name, Helping the Planet is My Aim!”
The fifth-grade students, under the slogan “Recycling is My Name, Helping the Planet is My Aim!” and taking on the role of poets, created our own poem about the importance of recycling in protecting our planet, titled “Recycling.” We made a poster using a collage of the poem along with drawings of the recycling symbol, recycling bins, dialogues, and slogans related to the theme.
Next, with the same slogan, we painted a basketball in the sky blue color, representing our planet. At the same time, we sketched the continents and the recycling symbol with our pencils. We then attached these drawings onto the painted ball, and with the same slogan, we presented them to the other students in the school.
Coding and Recycling_CODEWEEK 2024
The Second Grade Participates in CODEWEEK with Cody Roby
As part of the implementation of the Erasmus+ program “Climate is the Future,” the second-grade students participated in CODEWEEK – European Coding Week from October 7 to October 22, 2024, under the code CW24-hfNKR, alongside the robot Cody Roby.
Cody Roby took action for a cleaner environment and decided to focus on recycling. The students assisted the robot in collecting waste and sorting it into the appropriate recycling bins based on the materials.
I Don't Throw Away Trash... I Use My Imagination!
In light of the trash that accumulates daily in our school and at home, we had a discussion about where all this waste goes and where it comes from. After a brainstorming session, we decided on ways to reduce and creatively utilize it.
â—Ź Â Â We created a recycling corner and decided to collect paper, bottle caps, batteries, and plastic food containers in designated bins. We made artistic creations (pencil holders, decorative class boards, robots) and created a city from recycled materials. We organized a workshop for Christmas crafts using useless materials, beautified our yard by planting flowers in old tires, built bird feeders and hung them in the trees, and organized a fashion show by creating clothes and accessories from recyclable materials.
Nothing is useless in nature – everything can be recycled!
Participating in Battery Recycling
The issue of batteries is a matter that concerns all of us.
Battery Recycling...
As part of the implementation of the Erasmus+ program “Climate is the Future” (2023-2-EL01-KA210-SCH-000176111), our school is participating in a battery collection competition.
At our school, there is a designated battery collection bin with the ultimate goal of recycling them.
This initiative raises students' awareness of the importance of the Circular Economy and, specifically, battery recycling.
How Battery Recycling Works:
The organization AFIS manages, collects, and recycles all batteries weighing up to 5 kilograms.
When a battery is thrown away as regular waste, its life cycle is interrupted. This results in the loss of valuable raw materials and energy, and certain components may even seep into the water table, causing serious health risks.
In contrast, when an empty battery is placed in a designated collection bin, its "life cycle" continues. Its core components are recycled and used to manufacture new batteries or other products.
By participating in this action, we contribute to a cleaner environment and help create a sustainable future! 🌍🔋Â
Making flowers of plastic capsÂ
I don't throw away trash...I use my imagination!
On the occasion of the garbage that is collected daily in our school and at home, there was a discussion about where all this ends up and where it comes from. After brainstorming, we decided on ways in which we can reduce it as well as utilize it creatively.
-We created a recycling corner and decided to collect in bins, paper, lids, batteries, plastic packaging from their food. Visual creations were made (pencil cases, paintings for classroom decoration, robot) we created a city, a Christmas construction workshop with waste materials was organized, the beautification of our yard was organized by planting flowers in tires, we made bird feeders and hung them on trees and we organized a fashion show by making clothes and accessories from recyclable materials.
