Panevėžys Žemyna Progymnasium’s Green Adventure Begins!
The vegetable seedlings planted a week ago are already reaching for the light – the first signs of greenery are greeting spring!
Today, the Panevėžys Žemyna Progymnasium students embarked on a fun and colorful succulent adventure! They discovered a world of plants with various shapes, colors, and sizes. They learned how to care for them and why these green friends are so special!
Curiosity, discovery, and green education – our path to growth and learning!
The Secrets of Herbs and the World of Little Explorers!
The 3d grade students of Panevėžys Žemyna Progymnasium, together with their teacher Kristina Klimkevičienė, took part in a short-term nature project that encouraged them not only to observe but also to take action. In the classroom, the children explored various seeds – they examined and compared them, and discussed what could be grown from each one. Filled with curiosity and excitement, they carefully planted the seeds and are now eagerly waiting for the first sprouts to appear.
The experiential learning continued beyond the school walls – the children visited the library, where they participated in a fragrant and engaging educational activity called “The Power of Herbs.”
During the session, the young explorers learned about the herbs growing in our environment and had the chance to experience them firsthand: they smelled, tasted, and guessed their uses. The children discovered that herbs can help with colds, relieve stress, improve well-being, and even boost energy. Some herbs were familiar, others completely new – but all of them left a lasting impression!
We sincerely thank the staff of the “Žalioji pelėda” library for their warm welcome, interesting activities, and for inspiring children to take an interest in nature and healthy living.
We believe that such experiences help children grow not only in knowledge but also in environmental awareness and a sense of responsibility for their actions.
Now, all that’s left is to wait… until the first little plants begin to grow in our classroom!
Little Plant Enthusiasts – From a Tiny Seed to a Tasty Harvest!
Who would have thought that a tiny seed holds so many wonders? Guided by teacher Edita Račienė, the students of Panevėžio Žemynos Progymnasium dove into the fascinating world of plants – not just exploring, but becoming real little gardeners!
The students eagerly observed how seeds sprout and then rolled up their sleeves – planting lettuce, peas, cucumbers, tomatoes, and even various herbs! The onion greens didn’t keep us waiting long – as soon as they turned green, we happily tasted them (with lots of giggles along the way)!
Now, students are all excited to see which plant will grow the fastest and what our homegrown harvest will taste like! What do you think – which plant will win the race? Share your guesses in the comments below!
