Lesson 4
Proposing Mitigation
Proposing Mitigation
Warm Up Discussion (10-20 minutes)
Problems are frustrating and we are given a mind, an intellect and therefore we can problem solve. If we can problem solve these damages, we wouldn't be facing global warming and climate change. Let's see if you can use your mind to minimize the negative impact of climate change on the environment. Examples can include recycle and encouraging others to conserve
What are the solutions to minimizing your micro impact on the environment? Discuss this question with your family members and friends and come up with ideas of minimizing our micro impact on the environment
Write down the solutions and document your experience of trying to minimize your impact in your science journal
Research Project - Micro (30-40 minutes)
Make sure you complete with creating 2-D pie charts and adding them to your PowerPoint slides before continuing with the project
Then, add solutions in preventing the impact to your PowerPoint presentation
Don't forget to add sources for the information you found and used to the last slide of your presentation. You can add pictures as well. Submit your presentation and video to Google Classroom when you are done
Reminder: check the guidelines to make sure you included everything. Practice, practice and practice on your 5-7 minutes presentation!
Create 2 questions with multiple choices answers (A, B, C, D) and send them to your teacher. We will play Kahoot at the end of all presentations
Science Journal (5-10 minutes)
Answer the question, “What are two things you learned from doing this project and your classmates’ presentations? Will you change something? If so, what is it?”
Discussion (20-30 minutes)
Show your family members and friends your Research Project - Micro presentation and share what you have learned
Share your experience of trying to minimize your micro impact on the environment
Discuss these questions with your family members and friends: "Do you feel the skills you have learned about finding right sources, learning the difference between fact and opinion, and collecting data will be beneficial for your future? When/what do you think you will have to use it?”
