UPDATES

· Report on LeSoupe Meeting: Bob Herring provided an overview on Suzy DeYoung’s efforts to raise funds for World Central Kitchen to benefit aid to Ukraine. The event is proposed to be “Perogies for Peace” and held on either May 9th or 10th. The event doesn’t fit Suzy’s mission for her 501-C3, so she needs another sponsor. Bob opined that the event is going to be very large, and he doesn’t think CKSCP can lend any assistance other than publicizing the event and providing some volunteers. He also mentioned that Jim Tarbell contacted him looking for ways to help. The board members agreed with Bob’s assessment.

· Opening Day: Bob Herring advised that CKSCP has been invited to participate in the Red’s Opening Day parade on April 12th. We would be limited to about 20 participants but would have a position toward the front of the parade. There was interest from several board members in participating and supplying flags and signage supporting Ukraine.

· Art Museum: Bob herring advised that he has been contacted by Dr. Peter Jonathon Bell at the Art Museum advising that the museum plans to put their copy of Ilya Repin’s “The Zaporozhye Cossacks Replying to the Sultan” painting on display as a show of the power of art during devastating wars.

· Individual Interest: Bob herring reported on a phone call from Mike Pugh who said he was willing employ his emergency response skills to serve refugees from Ukraine in Poland. Bob did not know where to refer him. Sasha Etlin suggested that he reach out to the Kharkiv Red Cross for their thoughts.

· Report on Fundraising: Bob Derge Jr. reported that CKSCP has received a total of $10,230.11 in donations to date. He expects to receive another $5,000 from Crossroads Church. He will be wire transferring another $8,000 to Kharkiv Red Cross tomorrow and they should receive the funds early next week.

· P&G Alumni: Bob Herring updated the board on discussions with John Pepper regarding the possible donation of funds from P&G Alumni members. The Alumni representatives have asked that CKSCP track funds received from alumni and Bob has worked out ways that such donations can be tagged as P&G alumni.

· Proposal on Drone supply of medicine: Bob Herring reported that he received a call today from Von Hueber who has experience in Ukraine training the military. His company is trying to set up discussions regarding the supply of medicines via drone delivery. The drones they can deliver up to 10 pounds of medicines. The big catch is that each drone costs $25,000. He and his partner, Dick Bausch, were hoping to meet with CKSCP to see if something could be worked out. After discussion, the board believed CKSCP was not the best partner for such an operation.

· Vladimir Bulba Proposal: Susan Neaman reported on a discussion with Vladimir Bulba wherein he was looking to reconnect the mayors on Madeira and Wilmington with the Mayors of Merefa and Chuguiv on a Zoom call of support. Susan Neaman will reach out to Randy Riley regarding Wilmington’s interest and Mike Burns will contact Tom Moeller in Madeira.

· Pendleton Arts Show: Guennadi Maslov reported on the Ukrainian photo and arts exhibit which occurred last week. He also advised that a Russian tank company was defeated in Ukraine today.

· Viktoria Mariniuk: Susan Neaman reported that she spoke with Viktoria Mariniuk who is currently in Slovakia. Viktoria has a job working with refugees. Viktoria also has a father, sister and two nephews in Mariupol who she is hoping to rescue.

· Nadia Klymyshyna: Ann Lampe reported that Nadia is currently providing aid in Pivdenne, and she is assembling groceries and medicines for Kharkiv much in the same fashion as Olga Fedchenko and her group are doing.
