We are so proud of our first litter, the Storybook Litter, or as we affectionately call them....The Storybook Crew! They were born on June 15, 2017 and all seven puppies were delivered in less than 3 hours! All the puppies were named for well known storybook characters from the books that I read in my kindergarten class! I brought home about 25 books, not knowning how many girls or boys we would have in this litter. It was such a surprise that we ended up with 6 girls and only 1 boy! There are so many favorite names that were not used with this litter! I may have to use this theme again in the future! This was a long planned union of two very special Portuguese Water Dogs: GCH-S MBISS Marshview Great Ballz of Fire RN AX MXJ RATO CA CGC WWD (Smolder) and GCH CH Afortunado's Rainbow in the Clouds RATN RN CGCA TKA MAC1 (Maya). We are so very happy with how this litter turned out! Please follow them as they make their way in the world as treasured family members and show and performance dogs! I am totally in love with each and every one of them.
Cindel's Uptown Girl, was known as Miss Rocket in our Storybook Litter. The character Rocket comes from the Tad Hills book, How Rocket Learned to Read. She is also our "keeper"puppy from the litter and is now known as Miss Brinkley! Named after fashion icon Christie Brinkley, this girl is full of spunk and style! She earned her first title, Trick Dog Novice (TKN) when she was only 5 months old! She earned her Intermediate Trick Title (TKI) at 7 months of age, and her Advanced Trick Title (TKA) at the age of 10 months. Brinkley is now busy training for the conformation show ring and we are working on learning about Rally and Obedience competitions. Brinkley earned her Novice Barn Hunt Title (RATN) in 2019. Cindel's Wemberly Worried, also known as Miss Wemberly! She is named after a favorite character from a Kevin Henkes' book Wemberly Worried! She is a treasured family member in her family and gets together often with her littermate and sister Miss Josie!
Cindel's North Woods Ivy, also known as Miss Ivy! Her litter name was Miss Olivia and she was named after the character from the Olivia books by Ian Falconer. She is a treasured family member and is the little sister to a couple of amazing young ladies.
Cindel's Mejoramigo, also known as Mr. Migo! His litter name was Mr. Paddington and he was named after the famous character created by author Michael Bond! He is a treasured family member and a frequent visitor to the beaches on Lake Michigan! We look forward to seeing this boy join many other successful PWDs in the area of therapy work. Cindel's Sway With Me, also known as Willow! Her litter name was Lilly and she was named after the very popular character from Kevin Henkes' books Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, and Lilly's Big Day. This girl is a treasured family member who is headed for the AKC show ring, following in the footsteps of her Papa Smolder and her Mama Maya. Her family also has plans to try water work, therapy work, and possibly agility! This little girl is going to be busy! You can follow Willow on Instagram @firstwillow.
Cindel's Trinity Strong, also known as Josie! Her litter name was Katy and she was named after the famous Katy from Katy and the Big Snow by the well known author Virginia Lee Burton. Katy was the smallest puppy in the litter but just like her litter namesake, she was stronger and more determined than all the rest! She has proven to be an amazing little sister to her PWD big sister, Lu. She is also loved by her human Mama and so many others.
Cindel's Incredible Journey, also known as Journey! Her litter name was Gloria and she was named after the famous Gloria from the book Officer Buckle and Gloria by the author Peggy Rathmann. She is a treasured family member and little sister to PWD Airi! She is a super smart girl and is enjoying the training and outings that her human mom plans for her.
