Maya was born in March 2013 and joined our family that year on Reina's birthday! She came to live with us at the perfect time and she truly has been a blessing to our family. Together, we have learned to compete in AKC Conformation shows. It took us a bit longer, but Maya earned her AKC Championship in August 2016, totally owner handled. After that, she attended 5 weekend shows to earn her Grand Champion title. In her free time, Maya is my running buddy. She is also a big cuddle and snuggle buddy. When she is working she loves to do agility but she has not had a chance to compete yet. She earned her Novice Trick Title (TKN) in November 2017 and her Intermediate (TKI) and Advanced (TKA) Trick Titles in 2018. After having her second litter of puppies, Maya earned her Rally Novice Title (RN). She has begun her Nose Work training and earned two qualifying scores at her first trial. Maya also has earned her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Community Canine (CGCA) titles.
Maya has completed her health testing and her data can be found at the OFA Website (CHIC#120431) or on the PWDCA Website in the Health and Litter Log.
Maya went Best of Breed over some very high profile specials at the Winnegammie Dog Club show in January 2016. This day will always be one of the most special days of Maya's show career.
Maya was Best of Winners and earned her first major at the Badger Kennel Club Dairyland Classic in May 2016.
In 2016 and 2017 there were very few majors to be found for PWD girls. We took some time off from the show ring and waited to find the perfect show to finish Maya's Championship. In August 2016 we finally found that major at the St. Croix Kennel Club Dog Show in Lake Elmo, MN. Maya was WB and became a new Champion!
On her first day as a Champion, Maya went Best Opposite Sex at the St. Croix PWD Regional Specialty in Lake Elmo, MN! We were so very pleased to have such a wonderful win so early in Maya's career as a Special!!!!
Maya was Best Opposite Sex at the Chain O'Lakes Kennel Club Dog Show at Grayslake, IL in January 2017.
Maya was Best of Breed at the Winnegamie Kennel Club Dog Show in May 2017.
Maya earned her Grand Champion title at the Chain O'Lakes Kennel Club Dog Show at Grayslake, IL in January 2018!
Maya went Best Opposite Sex and Best Owner Handled for a Group 4 win and her first points at the Fond du Lac County Kennel Club Dog Show in April 2015!
Thank you to Rob Duberstein for these beautiful show ring photos of Miss Maya!
Little did we know at the time that this would be Maya's last conformation show as a special. At 6.5 years of age Maya was Best Opposite Sex at the Dairyland Classic Supported Entry in May 2019 with a large group of beautiful PWDs in attendance. After raising her third and final litter in the summer of 2019, we decided it was time for Maya to retire from the show ring. We are so very proud of all her amazing accomplishments and awards that she received during her show career with limited showing. Her legacy will carry on with her wonderful offspring who are now beginning their show careers. Thank you to everyone who has supported Maya in her journey. We are excited about the future for both Maya's offspring and for Maya as she enters performance venues in 2020.
