Confidentiality
School counselors are mandated reporters. That means that even though your conversations will be kept private, there are certain instances where counselor/student confidentiality must be broken in the interest of your safety.
*Situations where confidentiality may be broken:
Someone is hurting you
You want to hurt someone
You want to hurt yourself
You give permission for the conversation to be shared with a trusted adult
While your school counselor's office is a safe space for you to seek help, school counselors are not licensed to provide extended therapy. CHS partners with Catawba Mental Health to provide students with access to licensed mental health counselors.
If you would like to request a referral for mental health counseling, please email your assigned school counselor.
Mental health counseling can be provided in person or virtually.
Parent/Guardian consent is required to participate in mental health counseling.
