Worship Ministries

There are many ways to be involved in creating our worship services and in taking worship to those who can't join us on Sundays. Won't you join us?

Altar Guild

The ministry of the Altar Guild is to prepare the sanctuary not only for weekly celebrations of Holy Eucharist, but also in preparation for baptisms, weddings, memorial services, and other special services.

The Altar Guild also functions collaboratively as a team to ensure that vessels and linens are beautifully prepared each week. The Altar Guild team rotates on a monthly basis to share the responsibilities of this sacred ministry.

If you would like to learn more about the Altar Guild or become a member, contact the office at 802-223-3631 or administrator@christchurchvt.org .

Ushers & Greeters

The ministry of the Usher Team at Christ Episcopal Church, Montpelier is a very important one. Because we take seriously Jesus’ own personal mission of inclusive welcoming, the ushers at Christ Church is the first “touch” that visitors will experience.

Our usher team always strives to be friendly and helpful by greeting people with a warm welcome and a smile. Our ushers hand each person a fully detailed bulletin, so that all in attendance will know exactly what to expect in our worship services.

If you would like to learn more about the usher ministry or to join this dynamic team, please contact Jody Pettersen at 802-522-6171.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers

The ministry of the Lay Eucharistic Minister is to serve at the altar alongside our priests in mutual ministry. The Lay Eucharistic Minister – or LEM – collaborates with the priest during services of Holy Eucharist by leading the prayers of the people, helping to set the Table for communion, and by administering the chalice during the distribution of communion.

If you would like to learn more about this ministry or if you would like to join the team, please contact the office at 802-223-3631 or administrator@christchurchvt.org .

Lectors

The ministry of the lector is to read the scripture passages during the 10 AM church service. Typically, each lector reads one passage during the service every other month, although that fluctuates depending on the number of lectors we have on the team at any given point.

If you would like to learn more about this ministry or if you would like to join the team, please contact the office at 802-223-3631 or administrator@christchurchvt.org .

Acolytes & Servers

The ministry of acolytes and servers is another example of mutual ministry that we celebrate at Christ Episcopal Church.

Acolytes assist with the lighting of the candles, carrying the processional cross, holding the gospel book, and performing other tasks that are part of our worship services. We welcome acolytes of all ages to participate in this ministry and there is no expectation of time commitment.

Come as you are and both Rev. Kevin will be happy to serve with you and coach you as we give thanks and praise to God.

If you would like to join us as an acolyte, please contact the office at 802-223-3631 or administrator@christchurchvt.org.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors

Not to be confused with the Lay Eucharistic Minister, who serves during the church service, the mission of the Lay Eucharistic Visitor is to bring communion out to those persons who are unable to be present with us here at Christ Church.

The Lay Eucharistic Visitor Team often brings communion to those in the hospital, nursing homes, and to those persons that may be homebound.

To learn more about this important ministry or to explore becoming a Lay Eucharistic Visitor, please contact Rev Beth Ann Maier at 802-244-7472 or kidmd@hotmail.com.

Worship Committee

Members of the Worship Committee meet on the second Tuesday of each month to plan for upcoming liturgical seasons and special services. We often engage in spirited discussions about how we can create liturgies that are engaging and theologically meaningful. You need not have a theology degree to become part of the Worship Committee and we would welcome your input and participation. For more information, contact Rev. Kevin at 802-223-3631 or revkevin@christchurchvt.org .
