Hosted by the Racial Justice and Healing Committee of the Diocese of Vermont honoring Juneteenth.
On June 16 at 6:30 p.m., join the Racial Justice and Healing Committee for a virtual film screening and discussion of Traces of the Trade. This event will be held on Zoom and registration is required.
Traces of the Trade follows the descendants of the DeWolf family, the largest slave traders in U.S. history, as they retrace the steps of the Triangle Trade and confront their family legacy.
This screening is being held in honor of Juneteenth. Also known as Freedom Day, Juneteenth recognizes the day of the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas: June 19, 1865. Juneteenth was made a federal holiday in 2021 and is celebrated annually on June 19.
Following the screening, members of the Racial Justice and Healing Committee (including Elizabeth Parker and Marty Roberts) will lead small group discussions about the film and how participants can engage in the work of racial justice and healing in their congregations.
