Times to come

Times of the world

For thousands of years man could write down what happened to her society. History saw people come and god, having people conquering others, becoming big reigns, but also disappearing only to become a footnote in the history books.

The bible presents us with part of the history of mankind of the past but also gives us warnings concerning the ages to come. It gives us signs for times to come.

The Bible gives mankind also directions or signs where and how to go to the right place. It also warns man that it is up to each individual to make the right choice and to chose to go the right way, having to find the narrow road to the narrow gate to enter a better world that our present world.

Ominous Signs

Looking around upon the world we cannot fail to see signs that tell us that Christ is very near. The important question presses itself upon each of us : "What will His coming mean to me?" God has permitted me to know the Truth and to take the name of Christ upon me; He has surrounded me with means calculated to develop in me the Spirit of Christ; he has given me privileges which ought to result in the production of the fruits of Christ.

How do I stand?
On coming out of the world at the bidding of the Gospel, did I bring my heart away with me, or did I only bring my intellect?
Are my affections still with the fleeting things of this life?

Life or death hangs on a reply to the questions. The Spirit, through John, says, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him" (1 John ii. 15). The world is but a passing gaudy show. Its honours and emoluments a mere bauble lasting only a moment. That which is guaranteed to those who leave it for faithful loving service to Christ is glory, honour, incorruptibility, and a share in helping to fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of God. In view of these things, can sensible men who have given themselves to Christ hesitate for a moment as to their duty?

Our Present Day Dangers

One of the dangers of the present day, which are the "last days" of the apostle's allusion in 2 Tim. iii., is to yield to the temptation, of which we are susceptible, and to become, along with our contemporaries, "Lovers of pleasure, more than lovers of God".

The apostle's exhortation is "from such turn away".

The reason for this is obvious, because of what God said by John, 1st Epistle, ii. 15,

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him".

We are all liable to be influenced by this spirit, which is everywhere. But especially so the younger members of the Household, who, in every walk of life, are in contact with those "who live after the flesh", and hence the need of feeling the danger, which thus may be "overcome", when we "from such turn away".

J. W. Smith

Our Perilous Times

We are living in "perilous times" — perilous not only for the world, but for the ecclesias. The allurements of the world, the seductiveness of modern life — its pleasures, fashions and follies — prove an easy snare for many of us, especially the young.

Indifference, lethargy, lukewarmness, are the curse of our time. There is far greater likelihood of becoming lukewarm than of allowing our zeal to eat us up. What is the remedy?

"Give more earnest heed" to the things of the Truth.

Life is too short to be frittered away; the issues too tremendous to be neglected.

"Now is the accepted time", the time for the buying up of opportunity. "The things which are seen are temporal" — they will soon be gone. WE are related to things unseen, eternal. Let us turn ourselves from the tyranny of the present, and view the matter from the standpoint of the Judgment Seat of Christ.

That is the true perspective. Let the remainder of our lives, whether long or short, be dedicated wholly to Him who has called us. This alone can give us peace and tranquillity in the life that now is, and assure us an abundant entrance into that which is to come.

Times when people loose faith

Man has for long times looked for the One behind everything. Having come in an age where man can construct most of the thing he wants and where many get most of the things they want, not many are interested any more in That Great Supreme Being.

Today man has made himself a god to whom he clinches most of the time. That god is all the material with what he enriches himself. Money and material goods are the contemporary gods. The Divine Creator is for most of the people some fantasy and nothing to take into account. The Bible is also one of those books which is considered to old to be of any value.

There being so many satans, or adversaries of God, that those who went on by their faith in God often start having more doubts, because often they see those who do not believe in God having a better life than themselves. Many start loosing interest and/or believe in the gospel.

On the internet one can find several people and groups who do their best to either get people away from God, or to bring them to believe false human doctrines, and to lure them in one or other mega church, religious or a-religious group.

We can find lots of people who calls upon all right-minded brethren to "come out" from our ranks. Many against Christadelphians and other non-trinitanians want to get those believers in Only One God, to see that they would have been the ones gone away from the the standard or Catholic Faith or of Christian history.

Lots of people also want Christadelphians to believe they can not have a proper life or would not be able to enjoy many matters of life. Often those adversaries represent Christadelphians to others as a bunch of old senile conservative creationists who would not be with their times; Nothing of such thing is true. Under Christadelphians you can find many scholars, anthropologists, archaeologists, historians, scientists, thinkers and writers who very well know contemporary thinking and see how the world evolves. Others try to bring the name of Christadelphians through the mud, like they also love to do with other non-trinitarians, saying they are a sect or cult.

On the other hand, there are people who also find Christadelphians at normal village activities and then claim that they are beyond their control. Then those adversaries want others to believe that we are addicted to theatre and concert going, card-playing, novel-reading, dance parties, and other 'character-destroying practices'. We know not how far these terrible departures from Christ's commands may be true in certain countries or states (like America), but they are certainly untrue of Britain's, Dutch or Holland and Belgian brethren.

What is true that some oppose marriages with non-Christadelphians. They forget that we are such very tiny community and that there are not everywhere Christadelphian boys and girls to marry with. for some it is a "marriage with the alien", but those against such maarriage with some one of no or of an other faith can also bring the other to the True Faith.

It would be inappropriate for young Christian men or women to advertise themselves in public newspapers or to go on Tinder as seeking eligible marriage partners. They first of all should try to find someone suitable in their own midst. It is among their Christian brothers and sisters that youngsters should look for suitable mates.

The “light of the world” is almost snuffed out. The symbolic “lamps” of the class pictured by the “ten virgins” must burn very low by now. But there is still time for those who believe in the Only One True God to talk about their faith when meeting others. They still can attract others to come to know them better and perhaps to build up a relationship as well. That way one person can bring faith to the other. Though we agree it would not make things easy, and the believer has to be strong in his or her shoes.

The King Christ Jesus gave promise that one of the signs of the times proving the end of "Satan’s world" would be: that the gospel or the good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for the purpose of a witness to all the nations, and then the accomplished end will come. Such worldwide witnessing has been growing since the last few decades. Today, nearly all over the world one shall be able to find people telling about the Biblical Truth and hearing Good News Breakers spreading the Gospel or that Good News of the coming Kingdom of God.

But it must be said, those Good News Breakers shall receive more closed doors and shut ears than open ears and people willing to come to see. For those witnessing it demands extra strength to be able to continue their work for God.

Signs of End-times

For many millennia God has been giving man enough opportunities to come to know His Word, His Wishes, His Will but also His hopes.

From the words He gave to His People, everybody can learn how to behave and how to make the best out of life. That infallible Word of God, given to the world might for many today be a forgotten or too ancient Bestseller. Though mankind should know in the Bible are 'hidden' the most important things to know. There they can get an objective message that empowers everybody who wants to know. It also shall give enough information to come to see those important signs when we near the Last Days of this aion or system of things.

When God's message shall being preached all over the world lots of people shall have heard the proclamation and will be without excuse. Believing what is written in the Holy Scriptures we can be witnessing a world-wide fulfilment of prophecy is taking place before our eyes, all this under the direction and with the authority of Jehovah’s faithful believers and workers class. His blessing has been and is today upon the great work.

People should come to see how the times have changed and how natural disasters have increased and shall even increase more. There are the deniers of Global Warming, the same as there are those who close their eyes for the signs which should be recognised by believers in God, to prepare for those horrible times to come, when Great Tribulation shall come all over the world, nobody able to escape Armageddon.

For Christadelphians and every true believer in God and His sent one Christ the Messiah, the times in which we live at present, may be coming more and more fear-inspiring but also giving restrengthened hope. This is in exact fulfilment of what Jesus Christ himself predicted to be the case of evidence that we are living in “the time of the end,” the time when the modern antitype of the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE will take place. More for the benefit of us today than for the apostles and disciples of the first century, Jesus went on to say:

“Also, there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth anguish of nations, not knowing the way out because of the roaring of the sea and its agitation, while men [Greek, anʹthro·poi] become faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.” — Luke 21:25-27

The enemies of the Christadelphians and other non-trinitarian groups, men belonging to this world, are mounting troubles, but Christadelphian let their mocking pass their ears and do not flinch or dodge in the slightest before the opposition. Our courage and unity will show them what they’re up against: defeat for them, victory for us lovers of God — and both because of God.

“ and in nothing affrighted by the adversaries: which is for them an evident token of perdition, but of your salvation, and that from God;” (Php 1:28 ASV)

By their strong faith Christadelphians do not mind showing others that they do not belong to the world, and as such have no reason to join all those heathen festivals like Halloween, All Saints, All Souls, Christmas, Easter and others, but keeping to the God given set apart days, like 14 Nisan or Pesach.

This requires a true Christian today to be a person of strong faith in the Almighty God and His promises to the faithful ones. The “deliverance” that is now at hand for persons of such faith is not initially the heavenly glorification of the remnant of the spirit-begotten disciples of Christ and their being taken away from the earthly scene of tribulation, although that is in store for them finally. Rather, the “deliverance” is the putting of a stop to the wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes and the rabid persecution of the true followers of the reigning King, Jesus Christ, this by the destruction of all enemies of Jehovah’s kingdom by Christ in the “war of the great day of God the Almighty” at what is called Har–Magedon (Armageddon). What a wonderful prospect will then lie ahead of the remnant of the heirs of the heavenly kingdom and their loyal companions who were prefigured by Ebed-melech, the courageous helper of Jeremiah the prophet!

Christadelphians as dedicated people, not belonging to the world of man but belonging to God, may be efficient and equipped for good work of every kind by his or her Bible study.

Days of Christian manhood

Christadelphians as true followers of Jesus Christ, do not mind taking up the task Jesus had given to his followers and as such are engaged in the work of the greatest grandeur and importance to mankind down till now. It certainly is no time for any dedicated, baptised Christadelphian to cater to sensual, diversionary desires of youth. We remember that the apostle Paul wrote to the youthful Timothy to flee from the desires incidental to youth.

“ But flee youthful lusts, and follow after righteousness, faith, love, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” (2Ti 2:22 ASV)

“ But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.” (1Ti 6:11 ASV)

When receiving those negative reactions and mocking we have to display Christian manhood, remembering the attitude of our perfect example Jesus Christ. Acquitting ourselves as men like him, we can face the destruction of this doomed system of things at Har–Magedon unafraid.

By carrying on as men in imitation of our flawless example Jesus Christ, we shall prove to those who have “the god of this world, as their spiritual ruler, that we do not need them, nor their god or gods. Out of love for them we shall let them know that all they have eyes for is the fashionable god of darkness. Them being stone-blind to the dayspring brightness of the message that shines with Christ, who gives us the best picture of God we’ll ever get, we shall try to have their eyes opened and for that reason would not stop teaching about the gospel message.

“ in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them.” (2Co 4:4 ASV)

Not afraid to uphold the universal sovereignty of Jehovah God Christadelphians shall thus share the Good News of the Kingdom of God in vindicating before all living creation. Tremendous indeed is our responsibility in this regard, and glorious is our opportunity!

Awful Times and Solemn Words

We are living in awful times from the Truth's point of view. We as a Body are telling the people that Christ is coming — that he is very near — and that we are waiting for him; but can they be said to be waiting for him who go about with the dirty pipe and cigarette in their mouths like the unclean world, and the sisters and babies are only half clothed?

Some are waiting for him — in the way of his commandments. These are they who discard the cinema and the theatre, and all such places, and are doing all they can to induce others. God speed to such work by whomsoever done. I can only wish I could help you in the work like others are doing. Still, I can pray for you in your work and labour of love.

G. Creed.

The accomplished end will come

When the good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for the purpose of a witness to all the nations, the accomplished end will come.

Witnessing what goes on in our days, members of Christadelphia, the city of Christ, do know that they as brothers and sisters in Christ should be ready for the days to come.

The adversary of God (Satan) is selfish to the extreme, and is full of egotism, hence becomes blinded to the obvious, having in view only his devilish schemes, wanting to get as many as possible away from Jehovah God. Babylon the Whore or the main churches shall try to help in that action to bring people away of that Faith in One God. Together they will unite to bully the lovers of the Only One True God, and to get them into submission to their wicked conspiracy.

People should know that the present crisis points toward the close of the times of the Gentiles, and that the revelation of the Lord may be expected at any moment, when he will be manifested as evidently as to his disciples on the evening of his resurrection.

One of the signs of the end times is that religions shall come to fight against other religions and nations against other nations. All human schemes of reconstruction must be subsidiary to the second coming of our Lord, because all nations will be subject to his rule.

People shall have to understand that we come into times that the wisdom of the wise men of politics and industry have perished. Time to have those in charge to be “kicked awake", to astonish them, stand them on their ears. We have come into the times that the "wise ones" who had it all figured out will be exposed as fools. That the smart people who thought they knew everything will turn out to know nothing is a.o. one of the many signs that we come closer to the end times.

“ therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.” (Isa 29:14 ASV)

People shall have to come to admit that there will be no brilliant statesman with a persuasive solution to the world’s troubles or even to one nation’s problems. Instead, there is fear for the future, just as Jesus foretold that there will be on the earth anguish of nations, not knowing the way out because of the all the roaring and agitation, while men become faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth.

“25 And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the billows; 26 men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.” (Lu 21:25-26 ASV)

With the stockpiling of armaments racing beyond the control of the nations, the literal sea itself is filled with war equipment in the form of ships and submarines capable of carrying deadly nuclear warheads that can wipe out millions of people with a single missile. Man has made him drones to fight from far away and able to kill lots of innocent people, also by viral and biological warfare. For many the human being has no value any more, but the material is more important, and eyes are direct on land gain and extension of power.

The Bible predict also the mass hunger, economic disaster, environmental catastrophes and terrorism which shall bring chaos in the world of man.

As God’s prophet indicated about the leaders in the seventh century B.C.E., so it is in our time. Your "know-it-alls" will be unmasked, caught and shown up for what they are. All those who misled people with their own philosophies and human dogmas, pulling people away from the biblical dogmas shall become exposed. It shall be the time that people shall have to know that they know everything but God’s Word.

“ The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of Jehovah; and what manner of wisdom is in them?” (Jer 8:9 ASV)

At the Time of God coming man shall see no positive action or concrete plan on a global scale to meet that already grave situation which they had to endure for some time. It only shall worsen until everybody shall know that the Great Tribulation has come over them.

All the wars, earthquakes and flooding that shall increase, shall also bring more food shortages in one place after another, That is what Jesus foretold for these final days of this world system.

Let us not stay blind but open our eyes and the eyes of those whom we love, so that they shall be prepared for those terrible times to come, where there shall also be an “increasing of lawlessness.”

“ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and earthquakes in divers places.” (Mt 24:7 ASV)

“ And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold.” (Mt 24:12 ASV)

“10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 11 and there shall be great earthquakes, and in divers places famines and pestilences; and there shall be terrors and great signs from heaven.” (Lu 21:10-11 ASV)
