Mission of clergy or man

Tasks for man given by Jesus

Shortly before giving the “new commandment,” Jesus humbly washed the feet of his apostles. His action on that occasion shows Christians that they should serve their fellow believers lovingly, even by performing humble tasks in their behalf.

Jesus’ earthly life and his death both exemplified the love called for by this “new commandment.” Under Christ’s direction, the Christian is not to do good just when the occasion arises, but is to take the initiative in aiding others spiritually and otherwise.

The follower of Jesus Christ is to work actively for the good of his neighbour. Out of love we also should want everybody around us to be saved and having the opportunity to go through the narrow gate to enter the Kingdom of God.

One of the many tasks Jesus also gave to his disciples is to go out and to share the Gospel or the Good News of the coming Kingdom of God with others so that they in turn would also share that Good News with others around them. Sharing the Gospel message is one part of showing your love for the other.

Jesus request all his followers to preach the triumphant Kingdom message throughout all the world for a witness to all nations. To do that a person has not to go to a special theological school or university.

Jesus his assigned work was to preach to the lost sheep of Israel and get them in line for the blessings of God’s kingdom. He also sent his disciples out to the villages to preach the good news of the Kingdom. At his feet he wanted them to become learners of Jehovah’s purposes and then to tell them out on every occasion.

“19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: 20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” (Mt 28:19-20 ASV)

The preaching of the disciples of Jesus was done in the same way as Jesus went from one place to another. It was distributed from one house to another by people from all sorts of professions, fishermen, craftsmen, scholars a.o.. Those men and women talked to people around them and as such gave witness in whatever place they could.

“ And it came to pass soon afterwards, that he went about through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good tidings of the kingdom of God, and with him the twelve,” (Lu 8:1 ASV)

“20 how I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house, 21 testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ac 20:20-21 ASV)

“ And every day, in the temple and at home, they ceased not to teach and to preach Jesus as the Christ.” (Ac 5:42 ASV)

“45 Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures; 46 and he said unto them, Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the third day; 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 Ye are witnesses of these things.” (Lu 24:45-48 ASV)

The Mission of the Clergy

It is the fashion in these times to say that every man, and woman, too, has a mission.

Speaking, then, according to this notion, the Clergy as composed of men and women, have a mission; and so have we. Their mission is to deceive, and by their deception to keep the devil in awe. This is upon the principle of "diamond cut diamond". This evil world is ruled by its fears, operated upon through the civil magistrate and the priest, the influence of the former being sustained by sword and staff, and that of the latter by apprehension connected with the eternal unknown; which, in relation to the blind, is the more awful, as the darkness is profound. Even Romanism has its use upon this principle. It would never do to leave flesh and blood without clerical restraint, for the "ministers of grace", as they are styled, are the spiritual police of the Satan's Kingdom, to the order of which they are essential, in some livery or other, and sheep's clothing is better suited to the times. We would, therefore, not have the clerical orders abolished till the Lord come, an event which cannot be otherwise than nigh.

Come Out from Among Them

The Preparation of a People for the Lord.

a people whose character shall answer to Rev. iii. 18; xix.7, 8, is the great desideratum of the age.

"The churches" do not contain such a people, neither can their pulpit ministrations produce them. In fact,"the churches" are precisely what college divinity is alone competent to create. "The Truth as it is in Jesus" is not taught in the schools. They are mere nurseries of pride, professional religion, and conceit; and "the droppings of the sanctuary" which their nurselings are appointed to distil, wear away the intelligence of the people and leave them irresponsive to "the testimony of God". Nothing short of this, unmixed with the traditions of men, can make people what they must be if they would inherit His Kingdom.

Other Gospels will make other kinds of Christians than those who believe the Gospel the Apostles preached. We must forsake the pulpits and devote the time usually spent in dozing over their mar-text expositions to the Berean scrutiny of the Scriptures for ourselves. These alone are able to make us wise unto salvation through the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Dr. J. Thomas.

Worship with the Alien

My reasons for this refusal (to join in prayer with a "Rev.") were that he was a man of unhallowed lips. Believing from my heart that Presbyterians are not Christians, it was impossible that I could regard one of their "Divines" as a hallowed or sanctified person. No act of worship, then, offered through him could, as I conceive, be agreeable to God; and, therefore, to me, it would have been not only useless but impious. Again, I believe that acceptable worship can emanate only from Christians in their individual and collective capacity; I could not, therefore, have conscientiously prayed or worshipped, which is the same thing, in concert with a congregation so constituted as was that assembly.

Dr. J. Thomas.

Churches part of the establishment

In many countries the churches have become part and parcel of the Establishment.. Soon false teachers arose. The apostles warned for them, but problem with man is that lots of people prefer their ears tickled instead of keeping to rigid rules and not taking part of the many folksy traditions.

The worst change in Christianity happened already in the 4th century. Many preachers found they were a special people and had to give directions to those around them. They loved to keep the scrolls hidden away from the common people so that they could direct them and guide them to their own teachings.

Short historic overview of the teaching of the Trinity

Their own human doctrines brought forward the growth of the blasphemous doctrine of a triune God. The history of that false teaching ignored the most important saying of the Bible that there is only One True God Who is God of gods and Who is One.

“ For Jehovah your God, he is God of gods, and Lord of lords, the great God, the mighty, and the terrible, who regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward.” (De 10:17 ASV)

“ Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one:” (Mr 12:29 ASV)

“ yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him.” (1Co 8:6 ASV)

As the years passed certain teachers naming themselves priests came to put other accents than those of the Holy Scriptures.

In 96. Clement said, "Christ was sent by God". In 120.an "Apostles Creed"was presented to the people, saying: "I believe in God the Father"

In 150. Justin Martyr, introduced Greek Philosophy.

In 170. the word " Trias ", appeared first in Christian literature. Bringing us into 200 were we find "Trinitas" first introduced by Tertullian.

In 230. Origen opposes prayers to Christ.

In 260. Sabellius makes "Christians" to believe: "Father, Son and Holy Ghost are three names for the same God"

In line with that idea we find in 300. Trinitarian prayers unknown in the Church, after many heated discussions in 325 the Nicene Creed affirmed Christ to be "Very God of Very God".

In 370 the doxology was composed an 11 years later in 381 the Council of Constantinople invented "Three persons in One God".

From then onwards it went totally wrong in Christianity with clergy imposing their human doctrines to the people who when they would not agree to their teachings would be tortured or even killed.

In 383 emperor Theodosius threatens punishment to all who won't worship the Trinity.

In 519 the doxology was ordered to be sung in all the Churches and in 669.Clergy commanded to commit to memory the " Athanasian Creed"

In.826. Bishop Basil, required the clergy to repeat the " Athanasian Creed " every Sunday.

The Athanasian Creed

According to the "Athanasian Creed"

"Whoso-ever will be saved; before all things it is necessary that he hold the Catholic faith. Which faith except everyone do keep whole and undefiled: without doubt he shall perish everlastingly.

And the Catholic faith is this:

"That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity; Neither confounding the Persons: nor dividing the Substance. For there is one Person of the Father, another of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is all one:

the Glory equal, the Majesty co-eternal. Such as the Father is, such is the Son: and such is the Holy Ghost.

The Father uncreate, the Son uncreate: and the Holy Ghost uncreate.

The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible: and the Holy Ghost incomprehensible.

The Father eternal, the Son eternal: and the Holy Ghost eternal.

And yet they are not three Eternals : but one Eternal. As also there are not three incomprehensibles, nor three un-created; but one uncreated, and one incomprehensible. So likewise the Father is Almighty, the Son Al-mighty : and the Holy Ghost Almighty. And yet they are not three Almighties: but one Almighty.

So the Father is God, the Son is God : and the Holy Ghost is God.And yet there are not three Gods : but one God.

So likewise the Father is Lord, the Son is Lord: and the Holy Ghost is Lord. And yet not three Lords : but one Lord ".

And, it goes on to say:

"And in this Trinity none is afore, or after another: none is greater, or less than another: But the whole three Persons are coeternal together: and coequal. So that in all things, as is aforesaid: the Unity in Trinity, and the Trinity in Unity is to be worshipped. He therefore that will be saved : must thus think of the Trinity".

“ Such as lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver in the balance, they hire a goldsmith, and he maketh it a god; they fall down, yea, they worship.” (Isa 46:6 ASV)

“ Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one:” (Mr 12:29 ASV)

“1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beseech you to walk worthily of the calling wherewith ye were called, 2 with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 giving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all. 7 But unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, And gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now this, He ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ: 13 till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a fullgrown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 that we may be no longer children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error; 15 but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, even Christ; 16 from whom all the body fitly framed and knit together through that which every joint supplieth, according to the working in due measure of each several part, maketh the increase of the body unto the building up of itself in love. 17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their heart; 19 who being past feeling gave themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye did not so learn Christ; 21 if so be that ye heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus: 22 that ye put away, as concerning your former manner of life, the old man, that waxeth corrupt after the lusts of deceit; 23 and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new man, that after God hath been created in righteousness and holiness of truth. 25 Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 neither give place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have whereof to give to him that hath need. 29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for edifying as the need may be, that it may give grace to them that hear. 30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and railing, be put away from you, with all malice: 32 and be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, even as God also in Christ forgave you.” (Eph 4:1-32 ASV)

“1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honor thy father and mother (which is the first commandment with promise), 3 that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. 4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening and admonition of the Lord. 5 Servants, be obedient unto them that according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; 6 not in the way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; 7 with good will doing service, as unto the Lord, and not unto men: 8 knowing that whatsoever good thing each one doeth, the same shall he receive again from the Lord, whether he be bond or free. 9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, and forbear threatening: knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no respect of persons with him. 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world-rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit, and watching thereunto in all perseverance and supplication for all the saints, 19 And on my behalf, that utterance may be given unto me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 21 But that ye also may know my affairs, how I do, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things: 22 whom I have sent unto you for this very purpose, that ye may know our state, and that he may comfort your hearts. 23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ with a love incorruptible.” (Eph 6:1-24 ASV)

“ yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him.” (1Co 8:6 ASV)

The Deity's Names

Had the Hebrew names of the Deity been left untranslated, the reading of the Bible would have been much more interesting; whereas, by simply rendering them "Lord" and "God", much of the truth concerning God, and God-manifestation, is either hidden,or lost. The principal Hebrew names of the Deity are Eloah, Elohim, Yahweh, Yah, Shaddai, Adon, Adonai and Ail. Eloah, and its plural Elohim, are found 2,751times, and mean "mighty one", or "mighty ones"; Yahweh and Yah occur 6,978 times, and mean literally, "He who will be"; Shaddai occurs 48 times, and means "mighty ones" ("Strong ones"), and is invariably rendered "Almighty"; Adon, and its plural Adonai, are found 31 times, and literally mean "Lord", or "Master"; and Ail is found 240 times, and primarily means "strength".

For further details, the reader is referred to the; "Answers" given under the headings of the Hebrew words.

Yahweh - Yehovah or Jahweh - Jehovah

Four signs

Language evolves and Y at many places is now written as J, like V is written U in many places where in ancient times such letter was written.

When looking at the Tetragrammaton or Four Letter Word has three syllables. When you would say God's Name has to be Yahweh, please listen to way you say that name. The three syllables when you read the Hebrew signs, gives the sound Yai-Ho-Wha, which is written in are contemporary language as "Jehovah".

From ancient times the Divine Creator demanded His Name to be made known all over the world. It was up to men of God, priests, kings and those who love God to tell others that set apart Name. As such one would think clergy would make that name known. Looking at the history of mankind one can only notice how much work the clergy of the so-called Catholic Church of God did everything to hide that name. For a very long time, people not only were forbidden to read the Bible; when print made the Bible much more easy available to common man, they took care to leave out the Name of God and replaced the Tetragrammaton with the word "Lord" so that readers would have more difficulty to know about whom has been spoken, Jehovah God (the Highest Lord) or Jesus Christ (the sent one from God, son of man and son of God, the lord of his followers).

He Who was, is and always will be

Jehovah means literally, "He who will be", and occurs 6,829 times in the Old Testament. Its contraction Yah occurs 49 times. Yehowah or Yahweh - Jehovah or Jahweh - was revealed to Moses as God's new and memorial name, as recorded in Exodus vi. 3, which reads,

"I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty (Ail Shaddai or "El Shaddai"), but by my name Jehovah (Yahweh) was I not known to them".

The difference between "Ail Shaddai" or El Shaddai", Yehowah and Yahweh or Jehovah and Jahweh is that whereas the former only denoted past and present, the latter is prophetical, and therefore full of meaning concerning God's purpose and plan of salvation.

The name Yehowah (Yahweh) or Jehovah was fulfilled in Christ, Mat. i. 23; John xiv. 9; and, by and by, will be fulfilled in a vast multitude (1 Cor. xv. 28; Rev. vii. 9). Moses informs us that Yehowah (Yahweh) "Jehovah is One" (Deut. vi. 4); and the command was,

"Thou shalt worship no other god (Ail); for the Lord (Yehowah - Yahweh), whose name is Jealous, is a Jealous God (Ail)" (Ex. xxxiv. 14)

See also, Isa. xli. 4, which literally rendered reads," I, Yehowah (Yahweh) (the Who is, Who was, Who shall be), the first (singular noun) and with the last (plural noun); I am He."

“ And in that day shall ye say,
Give thanks unto Jehovah,
call upon his name,
declare his doings among the peoples,
make mention that his name is exalted.” (Isa 12:4 ASV)

Therefore all those who believe in that One God Who is One, God of gods greater than all other gods, above all kings and rulers, should not only give thanks to That GOD. They should do their utmost best to call out That God His set-apart Divine Name. Lovers of God should shout to the nations, tell them what His Name is and what He’s done.

Such making known of the Name of Jehovah God is not exactly we can see happening in a lot of churches in Christendom. Those who want to be respected as clergy and call themselves men of God, still do not much work to spread the news of His great reputation and do not make much effort to have that Name "Jehovah" to be known and praised all over the world.

Elohim

The Hebrew word Elohim, translated "God" throughout the first chapter of Genesis, and generally so throughout the Scriptures, occurs about 2,600 times, and in 56 texts in its singular form of Eloah, 41 of which are found in the Book of Job. These two words have been rendered in 11 different ways, thus : "God","gods", "goddesses", "godly", "judges","angels", "great", "very great", "mighty","exceeding", "Israel", and "El Elohe".

The radical meaning in the singular is "mightyone"; hence, in the plural, "mighty ones".

These words in the Bible are applied as follows: To idols in Gen. xxxi. 32, xxxv. 2, 4; to judges in Ex. xxi.6; to a goddess in 1 Kings xi. 5, 33; to Angels in Psa.viii. 5; to the Children of Israel in Psa. lxxxii. 6; and tood Himself in Psa. xviii. 81. In Genesis alone the word Elohim occurs 31 times.

Ail or El

The Hebrew word "Ail" or "El", many times rendered by the word " God " (and frequently combined with the word Shaddai, and then rendered "God Almighty"), occurs about 250 times in the Scriptures. No less than 12 English words have been used by the translators in the Authorised Version as its equivalent; namely, "God", "goodly", "great", "idols", "Immanuel", "mighty", "mighty one", "power","strength", "Bethel", "El Bethel", "El-elohe".

Its primary meaning is "strength". In the Prophets it is applied to the Creator (Isa.xliii. 10; xlv. 22). It is applied to Nebuchadnezzar in Ezek. xxxi. 11, where he is referred to as "The mighty one (Ail) of the heathen".

Shaddai

Shaddai is the plural form of the Hebrew word Shad, which is derived from the root Shadad, "to be strongor powerful"; therefore Shaddai means "mighty ones". It is found 48 times in the Bible, and in every case is rendered "Almighty". The first time it occurs is in Genesis xvii. 1. In the Book of Job alone it is found 31 times, and in every case refers to the Deity.

Adonai

The Hebrew word Adon, which is first found in Genesis xviii. 12, and translated "lord", occurs 297 times in the Bible; but in its plural form, Adonai, 434 times. The Hebrew has been rendered by four different words, namely : "lord*', "master", "owner", and "Adoni" (bezek, etc.).

In its singular form (Adon) it is properly enough rendered by the word "Lord", but not Adonai, which, like the words Elohim and Shaddai, "is a plural name of the Deity, and requires a term of the same number" to express the import and meaning.

Contend Earnestly

The Night is far spent—The Day is at hand

Very nearly fifty years of waiting, believing, and hoping for that—and the hope brightens, the belief deepens, and the waiting seems short. The time has been one of varied experiences. Much labour, many griefs, much experience of goodness, many errors, and a continual experience of the love and mercy of God.

One's recollections go back to many good and noble men and women, who need not be named, but whose names are written in heaven. The finest characters and the most devoted lives have been amongst those who held most devotedly to the purity of the Faith, and stood unfalteringly for sound doctrine.

Don't be carried away with the absurd outcry against "contention" and the "fighting spirit". That spirit properly controlled is a constructive spirit, and very little constructive or helpful work has come from the smooth speaking and placid contentment school.

A mere fighting man is useless: he destroys without creating — there are such. But a fighting man of Dr.Thomas' type creates more than he destroys. His creative work was magnificent, and it was a positive necessity with him to clear the stage of the corrupt lumber of churches in order to manifest the whole counsel of God.

Discussing Everything and Settling Nothing

You can do nothing for the Truth in this modern Athens that will be recognised by the King at his Appearance if you follow your old ways when you used "to discuss everything and settle nothing", and call it exhortation and teaching. Such is mere twaddle, and will never make you appear before the enemy — the Great Babylon around you — "fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners".

You will only be terrible to your friends. "Discussing everything and settling nothing" is a weakness that will never grow into strength. No good can possibly come out of it, and will cause no one to wax valiant in the fight or "to turn to flight the armies of the aliens". Such may unprofitably occupy time, but they can edify no one. All their "discussions"and "investigations" amount to nothing.
