Це останній з двох православних храмів, які існували в селах зони відчуження на момент аварії. Інший храм - Свято-Воскресенська церква в с. Товстий Ліс - згорів під час пожежі 1996 року. Село Красне розташоване у 40 км від міста Чорнобиль на лівому березі річки Прип'ять. Назву ж село Красне отримало за свою надзвичайну красу, оскільки зі слів старожилів відомо, що було воно дуже акуратним і доглянутим, а церква доповнювала його вигляд багатим оздобленням.
Перші згадки про Храм Архістратига Божого Михаїла відносяться до початку XVII століття., перебудовувався протягом століть .
Доля церкви склалася вельми драматично. У 1926 році вона була закрита, а священик був засланий до Сибіру. До 1942 року, коли церква була відкрита знову, двічі були спроби спалити її, але селяни вставали стіною і обидва рази рятували святиню. І все ж в 1986 році уберегти церква не вдалося ...
Саме напередодні Чорнобильської катастрофи був відреставрований та мав знову відкрити двері для прочан у перших числах травня 1986 року, але не судилося.
У перші ж після аварії на ЧАЕС дні, наповнені загальної плутаниною і панікою, Михайлівський храм в виселеному селі Красне був повністю розграбований. Стародавні ікони, інші цінні та унікальні предмети церковного ужитку зникли назавжди. Навіть полотна із зображенням святих, розміщені на стінах на великій висоті, були зірвані.

This is the last of the two Orthodox churches that existed in the villages of the exclusion zone at the time of the accident. Another church is the Holy Resurrection Church in the village of Tovsty Lis - burned during the 1996 fire. The village of Krasne is located 40 km from the city of Chernobyl on the left bank of the river Pripyat. The village of Krasne got its name for its extraordinary beauty, because from the words of the long-term residents it is known that it was very neat and well-groomed, and the church complemented its appearance with rich decoration.
The first mention of the Church of the Archangel Michael dates back to the early XVII century, rebuilt over the centuries.
The fate of the church was very dramatic. In 1926 it was closed and the priest was exiled to Siberia. By 1942, when the church was reopened, there were twice attempts to burn it, but villagers stood up for their church and both times saved the shrine. And yet in 1986 it turned out to be impossible to save the church...
It was on the eve of the Chernobyl disaster that it was restored and was to reopen its doors to pilgrims in early May 1986, but it was never destined.
In the first days after the Chernobyl accident, filled with general confusion and panic, St. Michael's Church in the evicted village of Krasne was completely looted. Ancient icons, other valuable and unique items of church use have disappeared forever. Even the canvases depicting the saints, placed on the walls at great heights, were torn down.
Fragments of the iconostasis and canopy are kept in the National Museum "Chornobyl".
