Connect Care Prescriber Supports
The Chief Medical Information Office (CMIO) works to strengthen the link between information and action within our clinical information system (CIS), providing prescribers with the knowledge and support they need to confidently navigate Connect Care. Below is a summary of the general support resources available, programs the CMIO provides, and a directory of the subsections that have further information.
General Support Resources
Manual - This Connect Care Manual has essential information about who to call, with links to other resources.
Updates - Have multiple blog "channels", including Support, FAQ, Tips, and the main Bytes channel.
Connect Care Concierge Help Desk (1-877-311-4300, help.connect-care.ca) - Identify problems and the most efficient pathway to solutions.
Embedded - Within-CIS links or menu items offer quick reminders about what functions are for and how they can be used.
Learning Home Dashboards - Available within the "dashboards" workspace, have links to guides and tip sheets.
User Groups - Most clinical areas will have zone-specific user groups where help is exchanged.
CMIO Programs
Basic Training - All prescribers working within AHS must have access to Connect Care. To obtain access, they are required to complete basic training and successfully pass the End User Performance Assessment (EUPA) specific to their specialty. The CMIO Prescriber Experience Team provides support through training delivery, guidance, and ongoing assistance.

Personalization Training - Provided by the CMIO Prescriber Experience team, Connect Care prescribers can learn how to personalize Connect Care to improve efficiency through customized layouts, patient lists, orders, smart tools, and In Basket preferences.

Connect Quality - A free program created by the CMIO to help physicians meet their College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) Physician Practice Improvement Program (PPIP) project requirements.

Provincial Medical Informatics Leads (pMILs) and Site Medical Informatics Leads (sMILs) - pMILs spearhead digital transformation at the provincial and specialty level by optimizing workflows, designing systems, and engaging clinicians for system-wide improvements, while sMILs focus on driving local digital health initiatives, advocating for site-specific needs, and serving as a communication bridge for frontline staff.

Trainees and Learners - The CMIO Prescriber Experience Team provides training and support for Trainees and Learner, including basic training, personalization, and troubleshooting support.
