Artificial Intelligence (AI)

"Generative artificial intelligence" (generative AI or GenAI) is a type of AI that can create original content such as text, images, videos, and sound in response to a user's prompt. It uses "large language models" (LLMs) to simulate a lot of decision-making processes.

Key Considerations When Using GenAI

Whenever engaging with GenAI models, there are several important assumptions to keep in mind:

AI tools do not replace professional judgment, regulatory obligations, or accountability. Prescribers and all other staff of AHS and the other Alberta provincial health agencies/corporations remain fully responsible for the decisions they make, the documentation they enter, and the services they provide, regardless of whether AI assisted in producing the content.
