Content in this section may not be accurate as optimizations via the Connect Care Results Routing Optimization project (2024-26) are being made to the system; click here for updates. Please also note that the delivery information on these pages applies to mixed-context practitioners only, and in the majority of circumstances, but some exceptions may not be reflected here.

Delivery of Laboratory Results, Diagnostic Imaging, ECG & Endoscopy Reports

Mixed-context practitioners can receive results and reports in their Connect Care In Basket, in an electronic medical record (EMR) that they use outside of AHS in a community or private practice, or via mail, courier or fax. The location in which they receive the results and reports depends on the primary/default location the practitioner has requested information be sent, as well as where and how the clinical test or intervention is ordered. The examples below review several common ordering contexts and the associated delivery pathways.

November 2025 Results Optimization Update

On November 25, 2025, the delivery of lab results from Connect Care will be improved so that lab routing will:

This change resolves most duplication of lab results. Lab results will, in most cases, be sent to a single location and via a single delivery method, based on the best available system information and on user entry or provider preferences. For more information, see:

Results for tests ordered in a Connect Care inpatient setting

Inpatient results and reports will be available for review within Connect Care, either from the "Results Review" or “Chart Review” functions. In some cases, results may also be delivered to the practitioner’s primary/default location, for example, a result or report for a procedure ordered during an inpatient encounter that comes in after the patient is discharged.

If a mixed-context practitioner is copied on a test ordered in this context, it will be received at their default location.

Results for tests ordered in an outpatient setting where AHS is responsible for the record of care

Outpatient results and reports for outpatient procedures will be delivered to the primary/default location of the ordering provider.

If a mixed-context practitioner is copied on a test ordered in this context, it will be received in the location specified with the order, where they see the patient if they are documented on the patient’s care team, or, if no location is otherwise specified, their primary/default location as well as in their default EMR, if they have eDelivery.

Results for procedures ordered in a community clinic (i.e., ordered using office EMR) will route to the ordering location and ordering provider based on the Submitter ID identified on the requisition
