Cactus Plushie

First version

The first iteration of the design was created in 2020. A simple wooden shape was used for the back of the sofa, with two subdivided blobs for cushions, adjusted in shape with proportional editing. The cactus plushie itself was created in much the same way, but with yarn-like normal maps. The seams are on the same mesh as the main parts, just with a darker material assigned to a pulled-out section. The purple glow behind the orbs is simply purple point lights placed behind each orb.

Second version

This model was adjusted into a second version in 2022. The sofa's pillows remain the same except their hue, while the wooden section is more smoothly bevelled and rounded with an indented design along the bottom, and with a much darker colour. The cactus plushie itself stays almost exactly the same except for a more pronounced fold around the corner of the sofa pillows. The lighting was also redone with less contrast but a darker feel.

With background

The second version was created for the original version of this site, which prominently featured it as the homepage banner. The banner version featured a low-contrast grey static pixelated effect, and the sofa cast a shadow onto this background. A diagonal line along the axis of the sofa's cushions meeting was darkened in the background to create a subtle leading line through the noise.
