NUMBERS DON'T LIE...
Data interpretation is one of my favorite things to do because numbers tell the real story.
When attempting to put together an infographic, you first have to start with an assumption about a topic. Then, you research your assumption to see if there is data that supports it.
Once you find data, the next step is to examine it. Does it come from a reputable source? Does it have bias or has it been manipulated? Does it support my assumption or go against it?
For the infographic, I was curious to see if my assumption that English was the primary language in the SF Bay area was true. Since San Francisco is the home of Silicon Valley businesses, I felt it was a safe assumption.
I was wrong! My research showed that only 41% of the area population speaks English. Which means that the 59% majority uses something different!
Data interpretation is a robust way of communicating factual material in a way that is easily absorbed and retained by the audience.
