CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT
Critical thinking in User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) works to help frame a potential problem while also revealing biases and assumptions built into the product under review.
For instance, this example is of a common credit card reader. The task was to improve it so that it would be more user friendly for those with disabilities without decreasing its current usability.
Multiple aspects were considered for improvement, but the largest impact came with raising button numbers, relocating card placement, and the addition of button colors.
UI/UX doesn't only consider the interaction with the product but the environment it operates in. Redesigns, such as with the support bracket, were made to prolong product life by eliminating drops and increasing ease of maintenance.
Each of these improvements may seem simplistic on its own but together they touch all aspects of the user experience.
