The functionality of technical communication goes beyond academia and the scientific community. It also has it's place in business.
In this example, my client asked if I would help draft the letter for a business purchase involving a commercial property. Our first step was to understand what the letter needed to contain from a legal standpoint.
After contacting a small business attorney, we understood that a letter of intent (LOI) is a document declaring the preliminary commitment of one party to do business with another.
During our conversation with the attorney, we were able to define the required body content and hierarchy that allowed us to fully populate and submit the letter.
Although this is a business letter, it follows the same conventions and format as most other formal memos or letters.
Technical communication can be an asset in almost any field, as this example shows.
