For my message this morning, @Jake Daugherty compiled some text messages to send to trainees each week leading up to liftoff trainings. Remember, the goal is to START a conversation.
Thursday to send if more than 2 weeks out from finals
Happy Thursday! Just had our team meeting last night and our squad is so excited to meet you after finals. Here's our picture of us on last night's ZOOM. How is your week going?
Week before finals (can change depending on day sending if you haven't sent any yet)
Just wanted to check in because I know you've got finals coming up... can be stressful! I get it. Wanted to give you two things to help!
1) This is a SUPER quick read on how to not stress out during finals week. Highly recommend: bitly.com/finalsnostress
2) I wanted to buy you some Starbucks... you might need it! There's a gift card in your email :)
Can't wait to start training!
Week of Finals
Home stretch of finals... finish strong! We're pulling for you. Only a couple more days until break. I'm going to reach out before Sunday to go over some final training reminders so look out for a call from me! Until then... go crush these last exams!
Does Friday or Saturday work better for you to touch base over the phone?
We have been utilizing texts/Facebook in 3 ways during training.
When teaching the calls. We teach if they don’t answer send the follow up message in TVI. (1)
During the jam we have managers reach out to people for quick 1on1s. We use the following order. (We have team activity up the whole time so we can monitor action)
1-sharp kids who are staring at their phone not calling. We empathize with them and then build up how great this experience is going to be. “Baby steps are important and we want to celebrate small wins. Call 3 people and call us back either when 1 person answers or you have called 3.” When they call back we celebrate. After looking at their list we ask how many they feel comfortable calling and how many they would rather text first. Any they want to text we have them send the initial intro message in TVI. (2)
Going from sharp to least sharp we 1on1 the people not calling first and let the people who are rolling do their thing. People who are rolling we talk to them once they hit 3. We see what they are thinking and do a light fast start promotion.
As we talk to everyone a few things we emphasize…
1-make sure to send the follow up to anyone who doesn’t answer gets the initial text. (1)
2-once people have slowed down on calls we ask if they have a Facebook. If so give them the FB message and have them send it out. (3)
At the end of the jam we show the initial intro text to the group and instruct them that anyone they haven’t had the chance to call yet to send the intro text. This helps create more demos that night. (2)
