The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning. This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student.Â
These artifacts show using differentiation. The digital artifacts were screen mirrored so that the students could use it as a reference for their lists. Each student created their own unique plate, but the one mirrored was used to work through each section, choosing their own elements of each section. The technology was used to allow for discussion instead of rigid writing work that breaks up the thought processes.
This artifact shows all the math lessons that were given for my pre student teaching placement. These lessons all have a very dynamic presentation format where I would model one example, model another example having the class guide me, and then either have them work in groups or individually on more. I would write out the steps, thinking out loud, so that the students could see them on the board and understand what I was doing. This instructional delivery pushed the students to work with me through the problem, so that they were able to understand how to do it on their own after I completed one.
