The competent teacher has in-depth understanding of content area knowledge that includes central concepts, methods of inquiry, structures of the disciplines, and content area literacy. The teacher creates meaningful learning experiences for each student based upon interactions among content area and pedagogical knowledge, and evidence-based practice.Â
This artifact shows my lesson plans from pre student teaching. This is a direct example of my understanding of using many activities for students to learn, using many methods of inquiry as shown through the formative assessments, and using common core state standards of math and social and emotional standards. These also show that I had meaningful experiences through my reflections on how each lesson went and how I can improve the next time I worked with that class.
This artifact shows my first lesson plan student teaching. This allowed me to grow to always have the content area standard, English language arts standard, and social and emotional learning standard, which rounds out the students learning as it connects the information to more areas of life. I also improved when writing reflections on how my teaching went, as I went through a more thorough thought process when evaluating how my teaching went. This lesson plan shows a more accurate idea of how I would work in my desired classroom setting.
