One song
One song is all it takes for memories to come back
Of the white and green tarp, the looked blue
To the first-ever WGI performance in Indy
To long nights spent in elementary school gyms practicing
To the black costumes with a choker that literally choked us
To win against a team, we haven’t won against in 6 years
To all the stress this show caused everyone
To the live music played during the performance by other members.
Of flutter fetti getting all over high school gym floors
Of crying together when we won
Of the tricks, I put blood, sweat, and tears into so I could master them.
Of crowds going wild
Of tattoos of the show logo on moms wrists
To the best friend I now barely speak too
To the year I fell in love with a sport so much
To improve my skills as a performer
To getting influenza and still preforming
To hear the song and flashbacking to my instructors
The feelings of being jealous that I did not get a better spot
To pushing pieces of foam about the white, blue, and green tarp
Not getting to paint the tarp because of school.
Of memories of bright pink flag silks, my sister sewed together
To finally learn how to do show makeup
That song brings back so many memories
of the positive and the negative of that year
That song for me is Ode To Joy
