Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a thief with the rare ability to enter people's dreams and steal their secrets from their subconscious. His skill has made him a hot commodity in the world of corporate espionage but has also cost him everything he loves. Cobb gets a chance at redemption when he is offered a seemingly impossible task: Plant an idea in someone's mind. If he succeeds, it will be the perfect crime, but a dangerous enemy anticipates Cobb's every move.
The movie first starts off with Leonardo DiCaprio laying face down in the sand. I thought this was supposed to symbolize Jack in the titanic washing up on the beach. That is a long shot but that's what this first scene reminded me of. I also like the world building that Christopher Nolan has done so far. Some of the scenes are confusing if they are in real life or in a dream. As the movie progresses the world buildig that Nolan has achieved is amazing. He needs to create at least 10 diffrent worlds to achieve his purpose throughout the movie. I also like how he used Cobb subconcious and put so much effort into it.
Throughout the movie Nolan makes sure never to show Cobbs kids faces. At the end they are revealed but it does end with a very large suprise. I do also want to add that Leonardo loves movies with a deeper meaning. I completly think he embraced The Great Gatsby and made sure that it was encoperated into all his film. If you watch Inception then you would understand why. Also the suspense Nolan is able to create is amazing. During every moment of them movie it keeps you on your toes. You have to guess what is real or not. You also have to guess what might Mal do in these dreams just because Cobb is in them. The movie also makes you think in diffrent ways that humans are not used too. I also want to point out that Mal is a total pick me girl. She uses the phrase "Choose me" when trying to convince Cobb to stay with her. Mal also invades different parts of Cobb's mind and tries to get them back together.
Another thing I also liked was that Nolan didn't focus on the romance of Mal and Cobb. He tried to focus on world building and then the suspense of the rest of the movies. I also want to add is I fully support a romance between Adriadne and Author after their kiss in the hotel scene. Leonardo's acting is some of the best I have scene in a while too. It is so complex and he has to use so many emotions to get his feelings across. DiCaprio really pulls the whole movie together with his acting and executes Nolan's script so well.
There is so much to compliment in this movie and I can not do it justice from the plot to the angles everything is amazing. I understand why Nolan is such a highly credited director after watching this. It was my first Christopher Nolan movie ever and he is defintly going to be one of the greats in the near future. I would like to add that Opehimer (Nolans latest project) will of course be great but I do want Barbie to win the boxoffice that weekend.
