Asphaltic plug -There is a minor debonding plug and road.
Minor Surface cracking near the buried joints
It may be because of vehicular load and weather effects.
It helps to prevent vehicle traffic from damaging the concrete edges and functions as a seal to prevent extraneous objects and debris out of the joint opening allowing for thermal stresses and Allowing for concrete's natural creep and shrinkage.
Expansion joints must be sealed on a regular basis to ensure water, dirt, and debris are out. Over time, these components can damage the structural integrity of the concrete. Water can also induce mould and interior leaks, both of which are expensive to fix.
ASPHALT EXPANSION JOINT can be used to seal the gap.
Handrail /Parapets/Safety fences
The Bottom part of the hand railing and intermediate posts has a failure of finished coat and spots chips and cracks to undercoat /substrate. It may be because of Moisture, Dew, Condensation, or pollutants in the air.
Application of a protective coat of paints, primers, or varnish to protect handrails from moisture.
Hexagonal Arrangement self- anchored
Rusting on hexagon plate self anchored on riveted steel box running through the length of bridge to support the load of cables.
Rusting or removal of paint may be due to weather change.
Application of a protective coat of paints, primers, or varnish to protect vertical hexagonal arrangement from moisture.
Hand rail of walkway -Chelsea wharf link
cable railings -Rusting at the joints as the steel cables/strands go through Tubular steel posts.
It may be because of the presence of moisture contents or saltwater present inside the joints which are damaging steel cables and steel posts too.
The holes at the joint should be checked and properly insulated and sealed to avoid the entry of water or moisture.
It should also be painted to avoid further corrossion.
One of the method to maintain the cable railings could be as shown in the below video.
